The past 2 days, the Zambia Ophthalmological Society - ZOS has been holding their Scientific Congress and AGM.

This was also an election year. As such a new Executive Committee was elected into office today. The New team comprises the following:
President: Prof Mulenga Muma
Vice President: Dr. Kayula Chansa
Secretary General: Dr. Chisanga Chelu
Treasurer: Dr. Felida Mwacalimba
Publicity Secretary: Dr. Mutale Nyaywa
Executive members:
Dr. Phyllis Moonga
Dr. Elijah Mutoloki

Great support from our partners, Diabetic Association of Zambia, Lions Club of Woodlands, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, Rotary club and the Ministry of Health.

Besides commemorating World Diabetes Day we also witnessed the launch of the first ever portable Advanced Visual field Analyser(AVA) in Zambia by the guest of honour Dr Alex Makupe the Director for Diagnostics and Clinical Care services at the Ministry of Health.

Globally 17 million people have Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy. If left untreated half will go blind by 2030😓😓😓!!! With timed treatment 98% of blindness due to diabetes can be prevented 😊😊😊
