Project: Installation of a Digitial x-ray system in the new OPD.

Enhancement of service delivery remains one of the primary focus areas for the Health Board. Integration of health care systems is vital in providing a one-stop model for patients in the marginalized communities that we serve.

The new digital X-ray system is being installed in the new OPD department which also has the following service areas: consultation rooms, casualty room, doctors rooms, pharmacy unit and a designated room for rehabilitation services.

Attendance at the facility has increased over the years due to various factors such as improved infrastructure and access to affordable quality health services. The result based funding program has also provided pregnant women with free ANC services hence attracting women from as far as Mutare Urban.

In-pictures: Progress works in the new Xray department.

1. The main digital X-ray system has been installed.
2. The lead door has been installed.
3. Structural renovations have been completed as-well.

Antenatal care remains a key focus area for the Health Board with the increasing need to scale up IPTp uptake.

Monitoring of pregnant women has been priority over the years as evidenced by the upgrading and construction of standard waiting mother shelters in our health facilities.

Our commitment towards ensuring access to quality ANC services by Pregnant women has gone a step further with the procurement of 18 Motorbikes under the Imagine No Malaria program.

These Motorbikes will be used to mobilize pregnant women for IPTp uptake at community level and also strengthen Community Based Health Worker activities related to malaria case management and other health programs.

The Zimbabwe Episcopal Area Health Board takes this opportunity to announce the participation of the Episcopal Area Health coordinator, Mrs Hannah S Mafunda at 2023 Christian Connections for International Health Conference (CCIH) being held in Washington DC, USA.

Hannah will deliver her presentation on Day 2, 6 June 2023 in breakout Session 2B as per the conference agenda link (see link below).

In collaboration with Global Health, the Health Board submitted an Abstract titled: A shared value approach to improving health systems: a case of strategic partnerships between faith based and academic institutions to support health system sustainability through a biomedical engineering programme.

Our Abstract was accepted by CCIH leading to our invitation to present in-person at the conference.

Hannah joins other speakers from across the world and will be supported by staff from our Global Health who are also attending this conference.

This year's conference will run under the theme: Hope in Health: Our Labor is Not in Vain.

The guiding verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58. For the last few years, healthcare workers oftten lost hope as they tirelessly worked to ensure the health of their patients, communities, friends and family. The pandemic, conflict, climate change, and unexpected disasters made healthcare more challenging than ever.
