NEVER FORCE A PERSON TO LOVE YOU.

Loving a person is not by force, it's by choice. Never make the mistake of forcing a person into loving you simply because you love them and you want them to love you in return. If you do so you will continue to beg and force them to do everything there is to be done in the relationship.

If it is obvious that a person does not like you, let them go, don't force them. Stop asking people to talk to them on your behalf, stop doing everything possible to get their attention, stop trying to seduce them, stop giving them money, gifts and others just to woo them, it makes you look desperate and as such you may not succeed in your quest to get them fall in love with you.

Stop forcing people to feel for you. A heart that didn't love you willingly will never give you its best, they will only end up hurting you. If you force it they will just use and dump you after all they told you they didn't love you but you still went ahead to offer yourself as an offering to them.

You're precious. Your worth can't be measured. Don't settle for less. Don't force yourself on anyone. Anyone that should love you, should love you willingly without you having to manipulate your ways into their lives. If they can't treat you like a king/queen, please let someone else do it. Place value on yourself only then would people place value on you.

To your continuous growth and wellness.

ALLOW YOURSELF TO HEAL!

You deserve to be happy.
No matter how much you've been through in life, you still deserve a life that is full of peace and happiness.

But I know that you are still not okay right now. I know that some things in your life are just hard to fix after being ruined so many times. I want you to know that you deserve to be okay.

So allow yourself to heal. Allow yourself to receive the love that you need for yourself.
Allow yourself to forgive your mistakes and wrong decisions in life.
Allow yourself to be happy again after getting hurt so many times.
I want you to know that pain is part of living, but you shouldn't live forever with that pain. You should stand unwaveringly as if you've become stronger after all the pain that you've been through. You don't deserve to stay in a situation where you find yourself drowning in sadness. You deserve to breathe, and you deserve to tell yourself that you are worthy and loved.

Allow yourself to heal. Not because you have wounds, but because you still have a life to live and the chance to be happy every day.

Cheers 🍻

Tips for communicating with your teen.

How to approach conversations with empathy and understanding.

Source: UNICEF

Establishing a connection with your teen is the basis for effectively supporting their mental well-being and social and emotional learning. When we love someone, we are interested in them and in their thoughts and feelings. As your child grows, communication is one way of showing your love and respect for your growing child.

1. Build on your relationship by showing an interest in what is important to your child to show you care.

2. Share things about yourself and find ways to make connections and identify shared interests.

3. Ask your child about their opinions, views and perspectives so that you can understand their feelings.

4. Build on the communication you had with your teen when they were younger – communication is important from babyhood to adulthood, and if you and your child communicated well, shared your feelings and thoughts, it is more likely that this will continue as they progress through adolescence.

Be an active listener
Active listening is important when interacting with your child. An active listener is engaged, caring, non-judgmental and empathetic, even when (and especially when) they don’t agree with others’ views. While some of your teen’s beliefs or opinions may differ from your own, you need to respect and value their views. This will also help them to respect your views and opinions. Listening actively helps children to feel heard, understood, less alone and calmer. By contrast, if we don’t listen properly, we risk making them feel as though we are brushing off their concerns and invalidating their feelings. This can leave them feeling defensive, frustrated, alone or hurt.

5. Show attentive body language. Maintaining eye contact, giving affirming nods, a look of concern or encouraging smiles are all small gestures that let them know you are paying attention. Use natural body language and cues that make your child feel that you are present, interested and really care. Even without using words, you can communicate you are listening and that what your adolescent is saying is important to you.

6. Ask open-ended, clarifying questions to gain a deeper understanding of how your child feels. These questions have no right or wrong answer; they simply help you gain insights into what your teen thinks. For example, you could try any of the following questions: “Could you explain what you mean by…”, “Why do you feel you got upset when…”, or “How do you think you would have felt if…” Use whatever phrases come naturally to you and your teen to show empathy.

7. Mirror what your child is saying by restating and paraphrasing what they conveyed. For example, you could say, “What I hear you saying is that…” or “Am I correct in understanding that you feel…”

8. Give positive feedback and affirmation. Giving specific immediate praise can help build adolescents’ confidence and self-esteem and encourage them to continue those same behaviours. For example, if your child shares that they have been feeling very stressed, you could respond by saying, “Thank you for being brave and sharing how you’re feeling right now” or “It can be hard to tell someone when we are feeling stressed. I’m so glad you shared that with me.”

9. Validate what your teen is expressing. This can help teenagers accept their emotions and feel safe to express themselves. For example, you could say, “It’s understandable that you’re feeling angry right now, I would feel the same if it were me,” “Thanks for sharing that with me. It can be hard to share with others when we are feeling sad” or “Sorry to hear you’re feeling stressed. I would feel that way too if I were in your shoes. Let’s see together is there is anything we can do to help.”

10. Sometimes it may not be easy for your teen to talk about what is worrying them, and you may not know what to say. It is fine to explain to your child that you are there for them, that you are ready to talk and listen any time. Do not force the conversation if your teen is not able to describe what is going on for them.

11. Communication is not only about sharing difficulties or tough feelings. It is important to share funny things, what went well during the day and find opportunities to laugh together and be affectionate in whatever way is comfortable for your teen. Having fun together and laughing hard is a wonderful way to feel good and strengthen your relationship!

10 Important Lessons from book -"RULES for MY UNBORN SON"

1)Self-discipline
Knowing how to work hard is just as important as working hard. Keeping yourself motivated when things are easy is one thing, but keeping yourself motivated when things are bad is another beast. Regardless of the situation, you must have the willpower to push through. Showing that you can do this will not only motivate those around you, it will make you a stronger man.

2)Take responsibility
In short step-up. Men take responsibility for their actions and don’t need others to tell them when or how to do so. Being responsible for one’s choices and actions isn’t always the easiest thing in the world. However, true manhood is being able to admit when they are wrong.

3)Choose your battles wisely.
It’s important to know which ones are worth fighting and which ones are better left as is. It’s okay to be quiet and walk away. It doesn’t make you less of a man.

4)Be a gentleman
Having old school values is okay. Treating women with respect is even more than okay.

-Hold the door

-Offer your seat.

-Push her chair up to the table.

-Watch your language

5)Be honest with yourself and everyone else.
Men who are honest are comfortable in themselves. “An honest man has an honorable manhood, which is something that every man should consider to succeed in life.”

6)Humility
Confidence is important but so is being humble. Men have to learn how to balance the two. Being able to do creates a strong and effective leader, which should be the goal for every man.

7)Giving to others rather than receiving.
Men who exemplify manhood see a need, and take the necessary steps to remedy that need. Filling a void and helping others, gives you a greater sense of joy than seeing what others can do for you.

8)Manners
Men (especially fathers) are portrayed as disgusting pigs (ala Al Bundy), but that’s not all men. Manners are important every second of the day, in every situation. Whether you are at home eating at your dinner table or eating in a five-star restaurant. Manners define people, and it separates us in terms of class and sophistication. Having manners and using them, also means that you are showing others around you respect.

9)Be open.
It’s okay to show feelings and to be sensitive. Toxic masculinity is a thing. To deny it exists is foolish. It’s not hard to find, and I could list several examples. In order to combat it, we have to teach our sons that it’s okay be vulnerable. It’s okay to show compassion to others. It’s a wonderful quality that all leaders have, which is why they are loved and respected by others.

10)The first shall be last.
This is a quote I read on Facebook a year ago and typed into my phone as a reminder.

True manhood puts others first. If you want to be a leader, then the place to be is on your knees, with a towel in your hand, washing someone’s feet.
