Understanding the Types of Glaucoma

Glaucoma isn’t just one condition. There are several types, and knowing them helps you protect your sight:

1️. Open-angle glaucoma – Caused by blockage in the eye’s drainage angle, leading to increased eye pressure.
2️. Angle-closure glaucoma – Happens when the drainage angle narrows, causing a complete blockage.
3️. Secondary glaucoma – Develops due to a known cause (injury, illness, or medication). Both open- and closed-angle glaucoma can be secondary.
4️. Congenital glaucoma – A rare type present in babies when the eye doesn’t develop normally.
