The other day I visited a salon to get my hair braided.
Halfway through the style, the stylist finally gathered the courage to ask me,
“Mambokadzi, where do you get your boldness?
Don’t you get ashamed by some of the things you share in public?
It is so true and so real, but I cannot imagine letting people know that about me.”

I smiled, because I understood her.
Dearest friend, there are stories we carry quietly because the world trained us to hide the parts that do not look perfect.
But healing taught me something different.
It taught me that being human is its own kind of holiness.

There were days when life felt too heavy and I reached for tenderness in places that were never meant to last.
Days when my choices were shaped by loneliness, by grief, or by the simple need to feel alive for a moment.
And for a long time, I judged myself for that.
I carried shame that was never mine to carry.

But when I look back now, I understand myself.
I see a woman doing the best she could with the little light she had.
I see softness.
I see survival.
I see a heart that was trying to breathe.

Not every love is meant to stay.
Not every chapter is meant to turn into a book.
Some moments come only to teach us, to stretch us, to reveal the parts of ourselves we had hidden.
And that does not make us weak.
