29/03/202, we have communicated with regulatory team. We are told in response that the team will get back to us, by the Chief regulatory Officer who happens to have resigned today.

Our refresher points;
1. We refuse to be addressed as a group with other stakeholders, we want to be addressed as an individual entity whose submissions were authored by us not "them"

2. We shall not accept being neutralized, we are aware of what has been happening ie, formations of some council, small groups and individual which we feel are meant to neutralize our mandate hence trying to address us indirectly. WE SHALL NOT ACCEPT THAT.

3. We are not happy about how the authority quickly gives licenses to Chinese people license to do herbal offerings at Parirenyatwa at the expense of Citizens who have been knocking doors , only to have all our efforts barricaded.

4. Lest we forget, it's now 18 months since we submitted our drafted MoU as requested by authority for consideration.

5. One would see as a formidable and professional organizations we have been so patient with the authority and continues to believe and trust in honest and open dialogue.

We trust and hope the remaining team, with or without the Chief regulatory Officer together with the Director General may find it compelling to raise their standards and engage us timeously. For it's now 5 years in counting, being delayed and given reasons or trying to neutralize us. We are not confused we know what we want and that has to be addressed amicably.

It's in the best interest of everyone trading in herbal remedies or supplements and ultimately the citizens for they are at the end of the consuming channel.

We continue to fight for the good cause.

Yours,

COMPOZ.
Mr A.M. Mashaya
Founder & President/ Chairman.

Happy Independence day Zimbabwe @41. We honour the fallen and the living heroes and heroines.

Our message is clear, Integration a Must and there is no integration without inclusivity.

09/04/2021

Now they are opening their eyes.

01/01/2021

Once again, it is yet another calendar year, 2021. Our thrust, our goal is going to be fighting for the removal of bottle necks chocking operationalization issues in our industry.

We as an organization and a people who have contributed immensely in improving health and living standards of the citizenry over the last 2 decades are in a strong position to further contribute much to the health care sector for the benefit of our people and government at large.

This is the reason why we can not allow to be bullied or to be underated by any institution.

We are very aware of the dirty politics and some structures being set to destruct us from carrying our mandate, which is restoring health through alternative remedies and therapies in the process improving livelihoods of our people.

2020, saw us being slotted on one of the virtual meetings hosted by in attendance of other stakeholders.

We do not hold any much joy over that, though we take it as a positive move in the right direction.

We can not afford to be neutralised, for until we see the industry open for the Zimbabweans, for at least 95% of the market share, we will still have the hunger and appetite to voice up.

We shall not sit and watch while foreigners are getting licensed on a silver platter while the citizens are discouraged from left right and centre on technical grounds among other tools which are used to make sure Zimbabweans are not afforded their rightful space in this industry.

Having highlighted this, I take this opportunity to wish all the distributors and practitioners in Complementary Medicines a Happy and Prosperous 2021.

Unity of purpose will make all stakeholders happy, ultimately making Zimbabwe a Healthy Country.

Let's not forget Covid-19 is real, let's practice and follow all the guidelines set up by WHO to protect ourselves and others.

Let's strive to be the law abiding citizens for the sake of our Country.

Any concerns, questions or complains, you may inbox them for personal responses.

Let's share and get everyone involved to grow our industry.

God bless Zimbabwe.

Yours,

A.M.Mashaya
President.

Feed back on Registration of Complementary medicines from MCAZ. Following a Complementary Medicines stakeholders meeting held on Friday 11 September 2020 where COMPOZ made a presentation on behalf of COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINES INDUSTRY. COMPOZ engaged MCAZ on a possible affiliation between 2 parties. Below is the response and feedback for your reference.

1) Applicants for registration of Complementary Medicines are not required to be affiliated to any professional council eg , , Pharmacist Council, Medical Dental Practitioners Council or Nurses Council or even MCAZ.

2) .
According to the current law , Complementary Medicines are supposed to be distributed from : A) (Complementary Medicines Pharmacy Group.)
B) and in (Complementary Medicines General Sale).

So the current system of Network Marketing was not in place when the act was gazetted in 2015.

So because of our continuous noise and growth of the Network Marketing, the government can not continue to ignore our Industry.

So a meeting is on the cards where will invite distributors to discuss the relevant controls of outlets that trade in Complementary Medicines and Herbal shops.

Thank you.

In the meanwhile distributors we need your views on how outlets that trade in Complementary Medicines should be controlled.

The Natural Therapists Council of Zimbabwe (NTCZ) board appointed
Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo appointed an 8-member board for the Natural Therapists Council of Zimbabwe yesterday which is Chaired by Professor Charles Maponga and Deputised by Dr Nyarai Paweni.
The board was appointed in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines on clinical study of natural medicines.
“The World Health Organization (WHO) is the umbrella organization of the world which guides member countries on health policies and operations. In 2004, WHO published guidelines for clinical study of natural medicines in the WHO African region as a model for member states to use in their local contexts (WHO, 2004),” said Dr Moyo.
Dr Moyo noted that usage of herbal medicines maybe harmful in the absence of proper clinical trials.
“Without the knowledge obtained from clinical trials, people using herbal medicine may be at risk for serious effects from taking the wrong dose, using the treatment in the wrong way or using it with other treatment with which it may interact.
“From the guidelines it is apparent that MOHCC (Ministry of Health and Child Care) pleads for clinical studies on herbal products to establish a place for traditional herbal remedies in the health care system and believes that this can only happen if recommendations for the use of herbal products are based on studies that are credible and acceptable,” said the Health Minister.
Traditional medicines has been in usage for a long time in Zimbabwe for primary health care.
“The use of natural or traditional medicine is recognised in Zimbabwe and is used by the majority for primary health care needs and MOHCC has therefore developed guidelines based on the WHO model to guide research on traditional and complementary medicines,” concluded Dr Moyo.
In his acceptance speech, Prof Maponga underscored the need to focus on training, research and practising. Prof Maponga is a qualified pharmacist and currently working with the School of Pharmacy at the University of Zimbabwe. He offers consultancy to many local and international organisations and also belongs to a number of professional bodies.
Acting Health Secretary, Dr Gibson Mhlanga welcomed the board members and urged them to diligently execute their duties for the benefit of the country.
Other members of the board are Professor Sheunesu Mupepereki, Professor M Gundidza, Dr George Danda, Mr Mukbul Ahmed Mukadam, Dr Wilson Gwatidzo and Mrs Kate Ross. The board was appointed in terms of Section 39 (1) of the Health Professions Act (Chapter 27:19) and Section 11 of the Public Entities and Corporate Governance Act (Chapter 10:31).

The meeting managed to go for a few minutes due to technical glitches.

The meeting will be scheduled on a near-future date as the Authority needs time to invite external guests as well.

is now considering the use of Chinese traditional medicine to contain Covid-19.
This was revealed by the country’s Health and Child Care Minister, Dr Obadiah Moyo during a briefing with the Chinese medical team that is in the country to assist in the fight against Covid-19. Dr Moyo said, “We are considering the use of Chinese traditional medicine in our Covid-19 response. China also used this for its response at the height of the pandemic in Wuhan. Chinese traditional medicine is very highly recommended, so we really want to follow and learn”. Zimbabwe has 51 cases to date, four deaths and 18 recoveries, with the cumulative number of tests standing at 34 707. Minister Moyo also said the country is facing an acute shortage of test kits and personal protective equipment. Meanwhile the visiting 12-member team from central China’s Hunan Province brought a consignment of medical supplies including ventilators, nucleic acid testing kits, face masks and medical protective suits. The team included experts from respiratory departments, infectious diseases departments, and the fields of intensive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, infection control, public health and nursing. They will share experiences in epidemic control with Zimbabweans and offer training for medics on the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of Covid-19.
