Remember learning the sequence of traffic lights when preparing for your provisional driver’s license?

The order is not random. Traffic lights are designed with a fixed position so that drivers with Color Blindness, particularly red–green colour deficiencies, can rely on the position of the light rather than its colour.

This simple design helps ensure that everyone on the road can interpret traffic signals safely, regardless of how they see colour.

Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, the part of the eye that sends visual information from the eye to the brain.

When pressure inside the eye becomes too high, it can slowly damage this nerve. Once those nerve fibres are damaged, they cannot grow back, which means the vision that is lost cannot be restored.

This is why regular eye examinations are important. They help detect glaucoma early and protect and preserve the vision you still have.
