Your Wellness Matters 365 Bridging the gap between health and wellness ... because the two are not the same! This is why your feedback will always be valued!

I am a Registered Nurse, Certified Wellness Practitioner, Fitness Specialist, Sports Massage Therapist and Certified Aromatouch Technician; passionate about teaching, promoting, and advocating patient wellness, and a strong believer in "prevention is better than cure". I work with, and support, individuals who are interested in making a new start; reducing their risk factors for chronic disease, and making a lifetime commitment to their wellness. My integrative philosophy on wellness focuses on holistic wellbeing, and encompasses the 8 dimensions of wellness: physical, mental, spiritual, social, intellectual, occupational, financial, and environmental. Each dimension of wellness affects your health and overall quality of life, thus it is important to consider them all when creating an integrative approach to wellness. My mission is to promote and support long-term behavior change that aims to prevent and/or effectively manage chronic disease, so as to achieve sustainable health, wellbeing, and quality of life. My goal is to empower individuals to take ownership and control of their own health and wellness matters, so that they are able to LEAD their change process. This page will be used as a platform to do just that, by informing individuals on simple, cost effective, efficient, fun, “out-of-the-box”, and sustainable lifestyle changes that can be made in their lives today, and that will ultimately result in a profoundly positive health benefit tomorrow. I will achieve this goal by
• Counseling on the importance and relevance of chronic disease prevention.
• Providing preventive solutions that focus on avoiding the incidence of disease altogether rather than disease management.
• Explaining how the lifelong disability associated with chronic disease increases morbidity and reduces quality of life.
• Emphasizing that current preventive solutions are simple, cost effective, and fun. I believe that wellness means something different to everyone and that effective, successful, and sustainable wellness programs always embrace the thoughts, ideas, and personal aspirations of the population for whom they are being designed. In addition, these types of programs can be designed by focusing on what the individual is doing right rather than on what they are doing wrong. I believe that besides health, total wellness embraces loved ones, honesty, humor, service, and community.

HAPPY WORLD RELAXATION DAY!

Today, August 15th, we celebrate World Relaxation Day - a day dedicated to promoting Relaxation and wellbeing and encouraging everyone to take time off to destress, unwind, and just breathe.

On this day we raise awareness about the importance of relaxation techniques and their role in promoting and maintaining both mental and physical health and wellbeing.

So pause, and take some time out of your busy day to relax.

Here are 5 quick and effective ways to relax today - no matter how packed your schedule is.
Which one will you try?
1. Mindful Breathing Break
* What to do: 5 minutes of slow inhales and exhales, focusing on nothing but your breath.
* Why: Calms the nervous system, lowers stress hormones.
2. Nature Reset
* What to do: Step outside, walk barefoot on grass, or sit quietly under a tree.
* Why: Contact with nature restores mental clarity and reduces anxiety.
3. Digital Detox Hour
* What to do: Switch off devices for 60 minutes, enjoy a cup of tea, journal, or read.

Our Story

About me: a health and wellness enthusiasts, registered nurse, certified wellness practitioner, group fitness instructor, teacher, presenter, health coach, and massage therapist. I am passionate about wellness not just for myself but for all who seek wellness for themselves and their loved ones.

My Favorite things: traveling, movies, music, warm sunny days at the beach or in my garden, and laughing my head off with my family and friends.

What I have learned: after working in health and wellness for over 3 decades, I have learned that our health and wellness solutions and models DO NOT parallel the ever changing and evolving research, knowledge and information on which to base some of our most important life decisions. Because of this fact, I feel that it is the duty of ywm365 to bring you the most updated valid, reliable, and fact based health and wellness information so that no matter what your situation you will be able to make an informed decision about your health and wellness solutions.
