Today's nugget: The Power of a Proactive Pause

We operate in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Speed is often important.

Today, think differently about pace.

The most powerful quality tool can be a single, intentional pause.
That moment to double-check a critical value, to ensure the instrument lid is closed, to confirm the patient ID. This isn't slowing down; it's speeding up by eliminating rework, reducing errors, and building unwavering confidence in our results.

*Think Differently Prompt: Build one "proactive pause" into your routine today before a critical or frequent task.*

Let's build a culture of quality, one intentional pause at a time.

QA Department.

World Diabetes Day — Let’s Talk About a Hidden Side Effect

At Lancet Clinical Laboratories, we’re committed to raising awareness about the full impact of diabetes. This year’s theme, Access to Diabetes Care, reminds us that understanding diabetes goes far beyond glucose checks — and that includes protecting our hearing.

Did you know?
Diabetes can quietly damage the tiny blood vessels in the inner ear, leading to hearing loss or tinnitus — often long before symptoms are noticed.

Why it matters
Up to 1 in 4 adults with diabetes experience some degree of hearing impairment.

What you can do
• Get a baseline hearing test
• Keep blood sugar well-controlled
• Prioritise regular health check-ups

This World Diabetes Day, let’s ensure everyone has access to the care, screenings and information they need — including the lesser-known complications.

Healthy living means safeguarding every sense.

This November, let's grow something more than just a mustache!

At Lancet Laboratories, we're supporting Movember and encouraging all the amazing men in our lives to prioritize their health. Regular health check-ups are a great place to start.

Here are some important tests to consider:
- Blood Pressure Check
- Blood Sugar Test (Diabetes Screening)
- Cholesterol Test
- Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Test (for men 40+)
- Test for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
- Mental Health Screening (talk to your doctor about anxiety, depression and stress)

Quality Week Kick-off!

Join us this week as we celebrate World Quality Week - 10 to 14 November under the theme *Quality: Think differently .

Today`s Nugget:- Own Quality
Let's think differently about who is responsible for quality. Quality is everyone’s responsibility- own quality .
It's not just the Quality Department’s responsibility. Let`s shift how we view responsibility for Quality– not just a task, but a mindset. Whether you’re in pre-analytical, analytical or post-analytical stages — your work impacts the whole system. Thinking differently means being proactive and intentional in all we do.
Quality begins with you! You are the Quality Champion!
Happy Quality Week!

Let's Talk Testicular Health. Know the Signs.

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men (ages 15-35), but when caught early, it's one of the most curable. Knowing the symptoms could save your life.

Early Signs to Look For:
• A painless lump or swelling in either testicle (the most common sign).
• A feeling of heaviness or aching in the sc***um or lower abdomen.
• A sudden collection of fluid in the sc***um.
• Pain or discomfort in a testicle or the sc***um.
• Tenderness or changes in breast tissue.

If it spreads, symptoms can include:
• Dull back pain or abdominal pain.
• Persistent cough or shortness of breath.
• Swollen lymph nodes, particularly in the neck.

Early detection through self exams dramatically improves outcomes and reduces the need for aggressive treatments. Your awareness is your first line of defense.

Your Action Plan:
Perform a monthly self exam. Know what's normal for you.
Don't wait. If you notice any changes, see a doctor immediately.
Spread the word. Talk about it. Silence helps no one.

This , let's move beyond mustaches and into meaningful conversations about men's health. Check yourself, and encourage the men in your life to do the same.
