Empowered BY Horses and Friends would like to formally welcome Andrew Fawcett who will be beginning early July as a practicum student. As you may read below, he comes with a wealth of experience working with children, youth and families. We are excited and grateful to welcome Andrew to the team.

About Andrew: With 6+ years of clinical training, a year practicing as a nature-based counsellor and over a decade leading various outdoor youth programs, Andrew is excited to harness his unique experiences and specialized trainings to come alongside you with Empowered by Horses & Friends!

As a student in Marriage & Family Therapy (TWU) and the Restoration of Natural Systems (UVic), Andrew has a honed appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living things and the inherent complexities of being in relationship. As such, he is passionate about integrating his understanding and love of the natural world within his compassionate approach to human suffering and flourishing. With additional trainings in Attachment theory, Hypersensitivity, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Play Therapy for Groups & Families, The Neurobiology of Healing Through Play Therapy, Neuroscience & the Satir Model in the Sand Tray, and Nature-Based Therapy; andrew is well prepared to facilitate growth and healing through creative play and relationship building in outdoor settings.

Growing up playing with his family cats, dogs, and horses along the Columbia (Big) River provided Andrew with a firsthand experience of the sense of safety that can emerge through connecting with animals in natural settings. Today Andrew enjoys relating with the more-than-human-world through canoeing, forest bathing, scuba diving, and playing outside with his young son.

Andrew looks forward to the opportunity of supporting you on Stó:lō Téméxw, the traditional territory of the Stó:lō people who have lived here since time immemorial.
To book Andrew please email [email protected]. His rate is $80/hour.
