Hearing loss is a prevalent issue among Canadian adults, with its occurrence increasing significantly with age. According to Statistics Canada, the prevalence rates of audiometrically measured hearing loss are as follows:

Ages 20-39: Approximately 9% of adults experience hearing loss.
Ages 40-49: About 27% are affected.
Ages 50-59: Around 51% have hearing loss.
Ages 60-69: Approximately 77% are affected.
Ages 70-79: Nearly 94% experience hearing loss.
