Closing Practice

This was an extremely difficult & personal decision. Although I am grieving what is no longer compatible even if it once was. I am excited & hopeful for the future that lies ahead. It is without a doubt that I say there are truly not enough words to express my gratitude & love for all of my amazing clients & their support to the small business of my practice, for the short while it was open. I am blessed to have such wonderful clients. Often times new beginning start with painful endings. At this challenging time closing Samantha Dumouchel, RMT is one of the hardest things I have had to do. It was short but sweet and I can’t explain all of the joy I have received from helping my clients with their health and wellness. Each and everyone of you offered so different experiences and conversations, ones which I won’t ever forget. For that I am so grateful & honoured that I had the privilege to be part of your lives and healthcare circle. Although these are challenging times, it was an unexpected decision made on personal choices that were weighed against many pros & cons, but unfortunately left me with the decision to not reopen & close my doors. It has been weighing on my mind over the past while during theses trying times. Deciding took some time but I needed to make a choice as to give you as much notice as possible. I will be relocating to at Simply Wellness in Cornwall where direct billing is offered and there are also many additional services offered within the building to compliment your health and wellness as a whole. All of you are welcome to follow me there. Although I will miss you, some of you may follow & some may not. I completely understand that distance may be an inconvenience, which is why I am dedicated to assisting those with the transfer of care to another provider. I am required to keep your healthcare records for 10 years (unless you are less than 18 years old- records are kept 10 years after the day you turn 18). For those that decide they would like to be referred a signed consent is required to the release of records as well as a $20.00 fee that will reflect the cost of materials used, the time required to prepare the material & the cost of sending it to the requester. I will be in contact with all my clients to ensure they are making their own choice on what they would prefer to do. Update:

I am sure that many of you have seen and heard that RMTs have the green light to go ahead to start opening. However, not all RMTs are returning immediately including myself. Changes are being made to the practice to ensure I am following the guidance of the College of Massage Therapists; my regulatory body and as the Ministry of Health.

I understand how everyone misses there massage therapy treatments and are anxious to get back to there regular life and regular treatments. I miss all of my clients but with that said my first priority is your safety.

Obtaining appropriate PPE, adequate cleaning and disinfecting supplies, changes to regular procedures and the physical space in which treatment takes place. I will keep you updated when I do have an official opening date, I am aiming for within the next couple of weeks, which at that point will be a slow gradual reopening process. I will be updating clients as to what policies and some procedures that they need to be aware of prior to the massage therapy appointment when I do start booking massage appointments. Below there is a little preview of what you need to be aware of when you come for your appointment.

First I will be taking clients with more urgent care needs and ones that have had their appointments cancelled during COVID-19. Then begin with booking from the wait list. If you wish to be placed onto the wait list please let me know.

Some very exciting news to announce!🌤🌈
The Ontario government has cleared Massage Therapists to begin treating for extreme cases ONLY (clients looking for pain relief and/ or in need of the benefits of therapeutic massage. Those in need of “essential care” as in clients who’s overall health or function would considerably decline or lead to hospitalization or other serious consequences).

This does NOT include those who would like to receive a massage for the only reason of just relaxing. Unfortunately these clients will need to wait to be booked in until the risks are not as high.

I will be contacting clients who had previously booked appointments one by one to schedule in once I am confident that I am ready to open. This will be a slower process as treatments get going to ensure public safety is the highest priority. Treatments will also be very different for some time. I would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation since this may take a while and I will not be in a hurry to fill appointment openings until I am comfortable with all of the changes that follow the directives given. Also keeping in mind that we are required to use significant amount of PPE and I feel that frontline workers should be prioritized first which they are in shortage of.

Before booking a massage please make sure “ the massage treatment must only be provided when the anticipated benefit outweighs the risk to the client & the RMT.” As we work on directives from the CMTO to make sure everything is followed so that the space is properly prepared along with ordering PPE, updated standards and an official open date, you will be notified.

I would like to let everyone know that unfortunately massage therapy is not included in Stage 1 to reopen. I will be keeping everyone posted on when I will be booking appointments again.

Seeing as “The Great Pause” has decided to continue, we have been mandated by our governing body the CMTO to push back treatments until May 19th; however this date is not set in stone and may change in the future. Clients with appointments will be contacted one by one.

With that said I thought this would be the perfect moment to remind everyone to focus on how it feels to 🧘🏼‍♀️inhale and exhale each breath💨. Something so simple, which many of us unconsciously take for granted. Some of the best advice given is to just take a breathe and how grateful I am able to do so.
