Delighting in dandelions. 🌼
I know there are still going to be people wondering, why would I delight in a 'w**d' that's so hard to remove? 😍

I'm guessing that in the case you haven't been introduced to them yet. Here's a little sneak peek: All parts of dandelion are worked with. They are nutrient dense powerhouses with compounds that support the kidneys, liver, gallbladder and bowels in a way that relieve digestive issues, skin concerns, balance blood pressure, give you more energy, and support the immune system. πŸ’šπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

They contain a latex that kills and removes warts, and are an incredible early source of food for pollinators. They help mine up nutrients from deep in the soil which helps other plants to thrive. Their roots also break up and aerate compacted soil and reduce erosion. This may come to a surprise to some, but they actually help a lawn grow! 🐝🌱🌼🌾

We will dive deeply into dandelions as one of the plants in the Mighty Minerals of May workshop THIS Sunday, May 19th.
You can learn which parts to use for what concern, how and when to harvest, and how to incorporate them into your diet and routine.

New Workshop in May!! The Mighty Minerals of May

Would you like to be able to step outside of your door for 5 minutes and return with some incredibly mineral dense, vibrant food from your yard?

The next two months are so bountiful with common wild edibles that pack a punch in terms of nutrient density. These wild edibles and medicinals are a great source of the minerals we are generally lacking in much of the food we eat.

I'm holding a 2.5 hour in person workshop where we will talk about the benefits of including wild spring greens (many of which are referred to as w**ds) in your kitchen routine. We will meet a few of these plants, harvest them and make a simple botanical vinegar, to take home.

Follow this link to find out more and sign up! https://mailchi.mp/47a20270b197/mighty-minerals-of-may

It's nice to be back!
Benna

Spring brings many nutrient dense wild edible plants that can be made into a nourishing, and mineral dense vinegar. We will meet and learn about 4-5 spring plants that you will likely find in yourΒ  yard or local park. Once we've harvested these plants, we will make a versatile botanical vinegar.

Today's reminder.....

Some days the to do list can seem so large and heavy that we forget ourselves.

We are not the β€˜to do’ list.

What are you doing right now? I invite you to Pause. Breath. Witness. Look at your magnificent hands. The millions of skin cells that protect your blood, bones & tendons and help to regulate your body temperature.

Notice those lines and cracks on your hands, signs of care and work, memories of all that you have touched and loved. The tendons that move so smoothly to pick up a glass and drink water.

Take a moment to stretch your fingers out long, spread them apart, then pull them tightly together, now make a fist, then stretch them out again. How does that feel? How often do you stop to consciously consider your hands and how incredible they are. They are a part of you.

By noticing for just a few moments, we bring magic, sacredness and joy back to our day to day living. Gratitude and wonder.

Within β€˜Tending the Soil’, we will not only learn about plants, herbal medicine, biology and ecology. We will practice the art of remembering the sacredness of all that is around and within us and how we are natural, luminous and wild.

Look up, look down and watch closely.

Even though winter is not showy and lush like summer, nature still shows off it's incredibly beautiful, intricate and complex self. 😍

When we slow down, listen and take a closer look it is easier to detect just how much is still going on. We may start to see things we never noticed before. Like how beautiful and delicate the dried seed pods of yarrow are, golden in the sun. And how many birds, rodents and insects will use different parts of these dried above ground parts of plants to make it through winter and build nests in the spring.🐦🐿

Like the beautiful arrangement of different lichens on a spruce limb. The community of organisms thriving together. 🌲

Taking my daughter out and letting her guide me towards what she sees has just increased my awareness of the smaller details. I just needed to slow down and pay attention with her. 🌸❀

When we notice and consider the web of life, in all of it's seasons and roles. Day to day tasks seem to melt away a little. They may seem to be less important or pressing, even if just for a short while. Taking the time to be in awe of the natural community around & within us can ease our strain of modern living significantly. 😊

Let the 'Tending the Soil' course be your excuse to slow down and dig into these connections once a month. Gather with others, and dedicate this time to yourself and the earth. Link in the bio.

Ramblewood Herbals

Hi plant people and those seeking wellness! I’m a Registered Herbal Therapist who offers herbal clinic consultations at Keliza Healthy Living in Mahone Bay and teaches workshops on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. I also spend some of my time teaching at the Bloom Institute of Herbal Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

My clinical focus is on using herbal and holistic methods to support folks with complex immune conditions, such as Auto Immune disease. I am also deeply passionate about supporting humans in reconnecting with the wonderful plants of this world. In turn I hope to support both humans and the planet.

If you wish to book an appointment with me or are interested in learning more about the workshops I am holding, contact me at [email protected] or 902-789-9432, or see www.ramblewoodherbals.com
