If you needed critical care, you’d want to know a hospital bed was available for you.

At Health PEI using hospital beds across the healthcare system helps ensure that everyone gets the care they need when they need it.

This might mean being transferred to a different hospital at some point during your care. If so, you can rest assured that the quality of your care will remain unchanged.

World Patient Safety Day – “Safe care for every newborn and every child”

Every child deserves safe, high-quality health care from the beginning.

On September 17, Health PEI joins the global community in recognizing World Patient Safety Day, established by the WHO in 2019 to raise awareness and drive action on patient safety. Each year highlights a key area needing urgent attention.

This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of safe care for newborns and children, who rely on adults to advocate for their health.

Even one safety incident can have lasting effects. That’s why it’s vital to ensure care is safe, timely, and tailored to each child’s needs.

Everyone has a role to play — parents, caregivers, health care providers, and community members alike.

We are once again inspired by the incredible generosity of Islanders in Prince County and across the province who continue to support the Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots fundraiser.

Congratulations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation and the entire PCH team on an outstanding achievement raising an incredible $2.7 million in support of health care in our community.

What an incredible night! you raised $2,715,974.50 in cash and future pledges for the greatest medical equipment needs at Prince County Hospital! This will not only help PCH this year but for many years to come.

Thank you to everyone who attended the 17th annual Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots. Your support ensures that nurses, physicians, and staff will have access to the best equipment when patients need it most. Thank you to over 50 volunteers (many of whom are PCH staff), the The City of Summerside for their support, as well as our auction bidders and item donors.

Of course, we couldn’t have held this event without the support of Warren Ellis, his family, and his business Summerside Chrysler Dodge. Warren sells nearly every ticket and covers the bulk of the costs, meaning every dollar we raise can support medical equipment!

We had many generous donors come to the stage this evening to make sizeable donations, including: PCHF - Housing Initiative ($50,000), PCH Auxiliary ($50,000), Rotary Club of Summerside/Golf Classic ($15,000), Maritime Electric ($5,000), Don McDougall ($17,500), Travellers Rest Mini Homes ($25,000), JMK Fishmart ($50,000), Mary Jean Irving ($100,000), an anonymous $1 million gift, and Nathan Kember, and the employees of his companies $1 million!

Congratulations to WD Potato/Walter Davidson, who won the Jeep donated by Summerside Chrysler Dodge

Thanks to everyone who bought 50/50 tickets from the Summerside Western Capitals . Our winner was ticket Jennifer and Matt Vaughan who donated the $3787.50 back!
