At Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice, we are guided by a deeply personal and compassionate philosophy: family first, always. In everything we do, the voices of our families—parents, siblings, and caregivers—shape the care, support, and comfort we will provide.

This family circle is more than just a source of insight; it is the heartbeat of Keaton’s House. These voices remind us that pediatric hospice care is not just about medical support—it’s about love, dignity, and treasured moments. Every decision we make, from the design of our spaces to the programs we will offer, is informed by the real-life experiences of families who walk this journey.

Their guidance ensures that Keaton’s House is a place of peace, where children can be children, and families can find strength in one another. Together, we are building not just a hospice, but a community of care, resilience, and love.

We need your help. Keaton’s House relies on the generosity of our community to bring this vision to life. Your donation—big or small—helps us provide compassionate care, create meaningful experiences, and support families when they need it most.

Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can ensure that every child and family facing serious illness receives the care and comfort they deserve. Link to donate in bio.

✨ Donor Spotlight ✨

The Jonathan Brown Foundation continues to honour Jonny’s legacy through their incredible fundraising efforts. JBF has made a profound impact in the community, ensuring that young patients and their families receive the care and support they need.

The 2024 Jonny’s Gold Ribbon Gala raised an astounding $353,484 for Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice. These funds will help create a dedicated teen room, offering a comforting space with age-appropriate amenities for teenagers receiving palliative care.

We were honoured to welcome the Jonathan Brown Foundation for a special cheque presentation. Their generosity will make a lasting impact on young patients and their families.

Thank you to everyone who supported Jonny’s Gold Ribbon Gala—your generosity is truly making a difference. 💛

Honoring Dame Cicely Saunders on International Women’s Day

Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible contributions of women who have shaped the world of hospice and palliative care—starting with Dame Cicely Saunders, the founder of modern hospice care.

Her vision revolutionized the way we approach end-of-life care, emphasizing compassion, dignity, and holistic support for patients and families. She believed that “how people die remains in the memory of those who live on” and dedicated her life to ensuring that no one faces the end of life in pain or without support.

Her pioneering work continues to inspire hospice teams worldwide, including ours. Today, we honor her legacy and the countless women who carry her mission forward—providing comfort, care, and advocacy for those in need.

Honoring Social Workers: The Compassionate Guides Through Grief

March is National Social Work Month, and we want to recognize the incredible social workers who support individuals and families through grief and loss.

In hospice care, social workers provide more than emotional support—they offer guidance, comfort, and resources to help people navigate some of life’s most difficult moments. Their work is essential, but grief support in hospices relies on community funding to ensure no one has to face loss alone.

To our donors and supporters: Thank you for making this vital care possible. And to all the social workers who dedicate their hearts to this work: We are grateful for you today and every day.

Happy Family Day to all the KCN Families. 💜

Today we can spend time with those who are still with us, remembering those who are no longer with us, or taking the day completely for ourselves.

Grief comes in waves. Feeling those waves and internal body signals throughout the day can help navigate the emotions that come with them.

Suggestion for families: Try reading a story and remembering together. We suggest: "Ida Always - by Caron Levis"

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate the love you have for someone. After the death of a loved one, it can sometimes trigger new or different feelings.

Those feelings are natural, and we are here to support you through them.

It can be helpful to share your story with others who can support where you’re coming from. It can be easy to isolate yourself on holidays. You deserve support in your time of mourning.

We are here to help.

We’ve opened our Grief Text and Online Chat Line today from 10am-6pm to support you through this time.

Grief can sometimes have a way of amplifying our worries—big or small, they can feel like mountains. Last Tuesday night at Anything Goes, we created a space to share those worries without judgment. Based off of the book "My Huge Bag of Worries", we created our own Worry Bags (worry monsters included) for everyone to have a space to share their worries.

No worry is too big or too small to be heard. Let's face them together.

Did You Know? Today is World Teddy Day! 🧸💜

On this special day, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Comfort Bears for bringing warmth and solace to the children at our hospice. Comfort Bears is a compassionate organization dedicated to bringing comfort and joy to children and youth facing chronic conditions, or severe trauma caused by loss of a loved one, or other serious incidents.

For the past three years, they have donated over 100 bears each year to our hospice and last year to Camp Keaton, offering comfort to children grieving the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, or friend. These bears provide more than just a hug—they bring reassurance, companionship, and a priceless smile in times of sorrow. 💛

Thank you, Comfort Bears for your generosity and for making a difference in so many young lives.🤍
