🦷 We recommend an oral cancer screening every 18 months for patients with dentures. The tissues in the mouth should still be evaluated, even if you don’t have teeth.

🦷 Most dental insurance plans cover this exam. Do you have a loved one who wears dentures? Ask them when they last had an oral cancer screening—an exam could make all the difference.

🦷 Oral cancer is a disease caused by abnormal cell growth in the mouth, lips, tongue, or throat. In 2003, an estimated 3,100 new cases of oral cancer were identified in Canada, and approximately 1,090 deaths resulted from the disease.

🦷 People over the age of 45 are at the highest risk. The good news is that oral cancer can be treated successfully if detected early.
