March Break has come and gone! Time to start thinking of warmer weather & summer plans! ☀️😎

If anyone is still looking for an exciting opportunity for their children this summer, please reach out regarding our summer camp. Family Speech Camp runs from July 7th-25th and we still have half-day & full-day availability each week! Our camp is packed full of daily activities from making crafts, reading stories, singing, having fun at the park and most importantly, practicing communication skills! With increased therapy frequency, we see wonderful goal progress! Each full-day camper will participate in x2 speech therapy sessions and work towards personalized goals. We pride ourselves on a supportive, safe and fun learning environment.

“The Thames Valley District School Board has reported a rising number of students with complex communication needs, particularly among kindergarteners, where the numbers have tripled over the past six years. London Morning host Andrew Brown spoke with Mo Oshalla, a speech-language pathologist and owner of Ontario Speech and Language Services, about what’s causing the trend and how parents and guardians can help their children.”

In his radio interview, Mo describes the impact of the pandemic lockdowns on speech and language development in toddlers and young children. He reiterates that children need live, face-to-face exposure to speech and language from a young age in order to develop these skills. Mo also explained how speech and language skills form the foundation for phonological awareness and the literacy skills essential for academic success.
