As February comes to a close, we look back at the event held at our Support Office in Toronto to celebrate . Valerie Owen, Chief People Officer provided the opening remarks on the significance of the month and how events like these are so important to our culture and reinforce our core values. Members of our Amica Black Community Resource Group selected the special meal based on their own personal connection to the food and their family traditions. Special thanks to The Jerk House, Island Spice Flava and Naija Jollof Toronto for bringing these stories to life through their culinary expertise.

After lunch, our attendees participated in a Black History trivia game, where the top three players won prizes sourced from Black owned businesses: DAM Caribbean foods in Bowmanville and Unique Town Market in Whitby.

Events like this allow us to learn more through sharing stories of family, traditions and culture and create opportunities for connection. At Amica, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians, not just this month but year-round.
