Originally developed by NASA, the AlterG uses differential air pressure to enable users to run or walk at a reduced body weight, while maintaining a normal gait pattern. The AlterG is currently available at our Burlington facility.
Benefits
* Run or walk at reduced body weight, but with normal a body gait unlike pool-based rehab.
* Reduce body weight in 1% increments to precisely control ground impact force, thereby enabling unique rehabilitation, fitness and athlete training programs.
* Can be used as an advanced rehab and fitness training tool, or as a simple treadmill with added safety and support.
At Velocity the AlterG can be incorporated into your treatment sessions at no extra charge. You can also use it on your own for fitness or rehabilitation on a per-use basis. Packages are available as well.�
USING THE ALTER G ON YOUR OWN:
If you are not a patient or client at our facility, or if you would like to use the AlterG on your own, the following fees apply: Introductory Session with a practitioner: 30-minutes: $90 (tax-free) If you have never used the AlterG at our clinic then you must complete an introductory session. In this 30-minute session you will quickly learn how to operate the machine, have time to ask any questions you may have, and use it. Since this session is provided by a registered practitioner, it qualifies under extended health benefit plans and is also tax-free.
Regular Sessions:

Moderate-intensity workouts, like those in classes such as Orangetheory and SoulCycle, primarily elevate cortisol levels and may not sufficiently stimulate growth hormone and testosterone, which are crucial for muscle growth and fat metabolism.
Whereas high-intensity interval training (HIIT), involving short bursts of maximal effort, induces greater hormonal responses that help reduce body fat and improve muscle mass.
This is because HIIT creates a significant metabolic disturbance, triggering a stronger release of growth hormone and testosterone, which counteract cortisol and support better body composition.
For women over 40, high-intensity workouts, when combined with strength training and proper recovery, can be more effective for achieving desired fitness outcomes and enhancing overall health.
