Did you know that exercise is considered the most effective, non-drug treatment for reducing pain and improving movement in patients with osteoarthritis? By strengthening and correcting daily movement patterns, participants of the GLA:D Program will train their bodies to move properly, prevent symptom progression, and reduce pain. While you may worry that exercising with osteoarthritis (OA) could harm your joints and cause more pain, research shows that people can and should exercise when they have osteoarthritis.

What is the GLA:D Program?

✅ Six week group exercise and education program led by Dr. Justine Watson.
✅ Learn to apply exercises to daily activities while building strength.
✅ Education sessions on how to maintain quality of life while living with OA.

April 23 - May 30, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:00am

The postpartum check-up at six weeks is a key milestone for new mamas. During this appointment, healthcare providers typically provide exercise and everyday activity clearance. However, many providers do not offer personalized physical assessments or detailed guidance on returning to activity during the postpartum check-up.

Fit-To-Be-MOM was developed to help new mamas, as early as 6 weeks postpartum, get back to physical activity and mobility with confidence and intention. This specific program utilizes breathing, core strengthening, hip strengthening and functional movement training type exercises to help mama’s MOVE and rebuild basic strength over an 8 week series.

*Initial Pelvic Assessment completed by Rebecca Grubb is required prior to starting the course.

*Babies are welcome to join.

*Located at Re:Mind Wellness General Store in Southampton, ON

*Dates: Tuesdays, February 11th until April 15th (excluding March 4th) at 9:15 am

Registration is now open, call or email the clinic today to hold your spot.

Lets talk about the dreaded 'S' word, that's right, SNOW. We will be seeing alot of it over the next few months, so lets make sure we are ensuring our safety while we are clearing our walkways and driveways.

🥾🧤 Dress properly for the temperature and weather conditions. Also, wear appropriate footwear to avoid slipping or falling

✅️ Ensure you are using proper form; bend at your knees and keep your back straight. Avoid twisting the back as a repetitive motion.

❄️ While moving the snow, try pushing it with your shovel as opposed to lifting and throwing it, especially if the snow is wet or heavy

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialized massage technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to improve the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. MLD uses light, rhythmic pressure to stimulate the lymph nodes to help reduce swelling and overall function of the lymphatic system. It is different from Swedish Massage in that it uses very light pressure, just enough to stimulate the lymph nodes under the skin.

What is the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system is a vital part of the immune system. It helps maintain fluid balance and protect against infection. It consists of lymphatic organs (spleen, thymus, and tonsils), lymph nodes, lymph vessels and lymph (fluid that carries white blood cells, proteins, and other substances). As a whole, the lymphatic system is synonymous to a sewage system; to drain waste and bacteria out of the body.

What conditions would benefit from applied MLD?

- Chronic Sinusitis
- Eye trauma
- Migraine
- Tinnitus
- Meniere’s syndrome (vertigo)
- Whiplash
- Epicondylitis
- Distal radius fracture
- OA of the knee
- Total knee replacement
- Cruciate ligament repair
- Supination trauma of the ankle
- Periarthritis of the shoulder
- Adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder)
- MS
- OA of the hip
- Hip replacement
- Burns
- Down syndrome (chronic infections)
- Constipation
- Stroke with hemiplegia

Rachel Choi, RMT has completed her initial certification and can treat patients with intact, healthy lymphatic systems. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment with Rachel, please call or email the clinic.
