If youāve been trying to lose weight (and keep it off) youāve maybe been told that you need toā¦
ā STOP eating the āwrong foodsā
ā Fight cravings
ā Count calories
But it simply isnāt trueā¦!
Cutting out your favourite foods, relying on discipline to exercise, willpower to fight cravings, sheer grit and determination to ignore hunger MIGHT work for the first few days (or weeks if youāre lucky) but itās unlikely to be sustainable or realistic in the long run.
Most of us end up blaming ourselves, giving ourselves āa talking toā and the diet starts again on Monday.
This approach is too restrictive and itās too simple.
Focusing on food and calories alone is only a small part of the puzzle.
Instead I believe we have to address our mindset, habits and behaviours
Most women I work with are fed up with restrictive dieting and relying on willpower.
Theyāve struggled for years with self-sabotage ruining their dieting efforts and ending back up at square one.
So if youāre reading this thinking, āthatās me!ā - youāll be relieved to learn that there is an easier, more enjoyable and healthier way to lose weight sustainably whilst reducing stress, improving sleep, increasing your energy levels and feeling healthier.
This is why I created The Nourish Academy š»

If youāve ever tried to change a bad habit, youāll appreciate how difficult it can be š©
Whether itās afternoon snacking, finishing your kids' food or the last minute scramble to make dinner - breaking bad habits is a common challenge when it comes to dieting & weight loss.
Thatās why focusing on calories alone isnāt enough to create long term sustainable weight loss.
Counting calories works in the short term, but itās really difficult to stick to because our bad habits derail our best efforts.
Angela, one of our Nourish Academy graduates, reflects that using a holistic, wellbeing centred approach to address our whole selves using kindness in place of negative self talk made losing weight so much easier.
The key here is to understand why weāre programmed the way we are and why we do certain things.
Once we understand our current behaviours and how they were created we are able to build a bulletproof plan to eradicate the unhealthy habits and replace them with new healthy habits.
This is exactly what we do inside of the Nourish Academy š»

Exercise is rubbish for weight loss and hereās why š
As a Doctor youād expect me to encourage exercise, and I do⦠BUT itās important that youāre exercising for the right reasons and not just to āburn caloriesā.
Iāve met many patients over the years who have been exercising in ways they donāt enjoy wasting their precious time and energy trying to shift weight.
The people I support are busy and so my ethos is about helping them get the biggest results in the shortest amount of time.
To help you out, Iām going to break down the science as to why exercise is counterproductive when it comes to weight loss.
1ļøā£ Understanding caloric burn: 1lb of fat is approximately 3,500 calories.
This means to āburnā 1lb of fat through exercise alone youād need to do around 7 hours of high intensity spin each week!
That's a significant time commitment and although I do love my peloton you can count me out.
2ļøā£ Exercise and appetite:
Exercise can increase hunger and lead to compensatory eating.
We often consume more calories than we burn during exercise, making weight loss solely through exercise challenging.
3ļøā£ When to introduce exercise on a weight loss program:
You can achieve weight loss by creating a moderate calorie deficit (approx 20%) through food alone. This means exercise is not needed in the early stages.
In fact, to really emphasise this point, when Iām guiding patients through a weight loss program I usually wait about 4 weeks before introducing or adjusting exercise to emphasise how important healthy eating habits are.
This gives them time to implement habits around their nutrition first instead of adding in too much at once which is often unsustainable.
4ļøā£ Why do you exercise?:
Exercise should be enjoyed and pursued primarily for its health benefits and feel good factor, not just as a weight loss tool.
Choose an activity that contributes positively to your overall well-being so youāre more likely to s
Has the diet industry been feeding you a lie?
Over the last 7 years Iāve met hundreds of women who have spent years, sometimes decades, on and off diets.
Others have forced themselves to follow extreme shake diets, injected themselves with āweight loss medicationā and some have risked their lives for bariatric surgery.
But despite their best efforts, they lost and regained the same weight again and again.
Thereās a common theme I see, which is inhibiting their successā¦.
This theme is the belief that weight loss has to mean self punishment. Whether itās meticulously counting calories, cutting out their favourite foods, forcing themselves to exercise or tolerating hunger the pattern of restriction is unsustainable.
This often leads to obsessing over food, guilt after eating certain foods, overeating and binge eating.
For these women, keeping weight off feels impossible. They lose and regain the same weight again and again.
Thatās why I support women with making realistic lifestyle changes and building healthy habits.
So instead of self punishment, itās a journey of empowerment, confidence and health optimisation where they learn to:
š Nourish themselves with foods that fuel their bodies, while still enjoying their favourite treats in moderation.
š Exercise in a way they actually enjoy, instead of pounding the treadmill to āburn caloriesā.
š Enjoy self care to reduce stress, improve their sleep and calm their busy mind instead of feeling guilty or selfish for taking time for themselves.
Itās not an easy transition to go from traditional restrictive dieting into a holistic health journey.
In fact, it can be quite scary to let go of the rules associated with weight loss. As Helen, one of my former patients so eloquently put it āasking me to eat intuitively is like asking me to trust a cheating boyfriendā
So we have to start slowlyā¦
This is exactly why I created The Nourish Academy to help women reprogram their mindset
From binge eating to losing 9lbs in 4 weeks without giving up meals out, wine or chocolate
Before I met Vikki she had literally tried EVERYTHINGā¦
š Every diet under the sun.
š Prescribed medications
š A gastric band!
But the bingeing remained so even when she lost weight, she couldnāt keep it off.
Why?
Because nobody had helped her to identify the root cause of her overeating.
Nobody had addressed her mindset or behaviours.
The key for Vikki was to heal her relationship with food and teach her how to build healthy and sustainable habits instead of a restrictive or black and white approach to weight loss
Hereās how we did it:
Hereās how we did it:
Step 1: Together we designed a bespoke food plan where Vikki could still enjoy chocolate and ice cream whilst maintaining a calorie deficit so she could still lose weight.
Step 2: She didn't feel like she was missing out and never felt hungry.
Step 3: Next we addressed the bingeing and learned that it tended to happen when she was alone, upset or frustrated. So I helped her to implement new tools and strategies for navigating those challenging emotions.
Step 4: Vikki learned new tools to manage stress, and deal with acute stress in the moment instead of turning to biscuits during the working day.
Step 5: We slowly added in realistic exercise - this was as simple as adding in walking, which weāre slowly building into a more formal method of exercise.
Itās been a complete lifestyle overhaul for Vikki.
A holistic, easy and enjoyable way to lose weight and actually keep it off for good.
But the most important thing is she feels better, sheās healthier, sheās able to chase after her granddaughter and sheās added years to her life.
If youāre looking for support to make sustainable lifestyle changes so you can lose weight whilst improving your wellbeing youāll want to know about The Nourish Academy

Do you people please when it comes to food and alcohol?
Sarah shares how she went from overindulging in food and drink to being more mindful when socialising.
Before The Nourish Academy, Sarah hadnāt realised she was people pleasing when she was socialising.
As she reflects, she actually thought it was the lifestyle she wanted to live, but soon realised, through coaching, that it wasnāt fully serving her.
THIS was the key to transforming her relationship with food.
Itās important to be aware that food and drink are integral parts of socialising and as women we often conform to these expectations because we donāt want to stand out or seem impolite!
So how do you strike the balance?
Well if youāre looking to enjoy socialising without feeling restricted or falling completely off the bandwagon youāll want to check out The Nourish Academy.
This is the FINAL WEEK to apply, with the deadline for applications on Monday 12th February
If youāre looking toā¦

If any of that sounds even a little bit exciting then youāll absolutely love what we have to offer.

What is The Nourish Academy & how does it work?
Nourish coaching is different, and I donāt say that lightly⦠Instead of focusing on restrictive dieting or counting calories we use behavioural science techniques to help our ladies:
Change their habits for life
Upgrade & master their mindset
Eradicate diet mentality
So they can finally heal their relationship with food, eliminate comfort eating and end the diet cycle for good.
It doesnāt matter if you travel for work or entertain clients in the evening.
Angela, Nourish Academy Graduate gracefully navigated travelling for 5 weeks on the hop, and successfully lost 1 stone in just 10 weeks!
She was able to entertain clients, didnāt feel she was missing out and we supported her with stress management tools so she didnāt turn to chocolate.
We pride ourselves on 1:1 support so that our ladies donāt get lost in group coaching.
With a maximum of 10 ladies, youāll have the opportunity to be coached 1:1 live on our expert-led coaching calls.
So if youāre ready to create a healthier lifestyle, reduce stress, maximise their energy, build self confidence and lose weight sustainably without restrictive dieting, youāll want to know more.
Hereās how it works:
Nutrition
Personal calorie calculations and nutrition plan templates (where chocolate is included!).
Youāll enjoy quick, tasty and family friendly recipes while losing weight starting from the very first week.

ā Cravings are like an engine warning light on a car.
ā Theyāre your body's way of telling you something is wrong.
ā That you need to pay attention.
Have you ever noticed that when youāre craving, even when you give in you never feel any better?
In fact, most times you feel worse.
I want to be honest with you here, this reel is simplistic.
It explains the ethos but it often takes weeks and months to actually put this into practice.
Why? Because most of us are dieting with our heads.
Weāre so intensely focused on what we SHOULD be doing.
If you're anything like the ladies I coach youāre probably logically counting calories and meticulously tracking our nutrition (or at least for the first few days lol)
Youāre not focused on whether youāre fully enjoying the food, if youāre truly hungry or just craving and youāre probably eating beyond your fullness signals because most women have no idea how to tap into these intuitive tools.
Youāre not alone - I used to be exactly the same.
Bingeing on tubs of ben & jerries or share bags minstrels - mindfulness consuming hoping that they would take the edge off and make me feel better
But instead I felt bloated, disgusted and like a failure.
Every. š«£ Single. š«£ Time. š«£
I didnāt become an expert in this work by accident
And it wasnāt just my medical career, nutrition diploma or experience that got me here.
It was the double ace of professional experience and sadly⦠personal experience.
But you too can break the snacking cycle and create food freedom, like I did.
If youāre looking for a more holistic way to take care of your health, improve your wellbeing and master cravings so you can (finally) lose weight for good I have something to share with you.
The Nourish Academy is open for enrolment.

Ever wondered why you eat cr*p when youāre not even hungry?
I did tooā¦
Iād find myself eating tubs of ice cream and finishing share bags of sweets wondering why the hell couldnāt I just say no?
Iād give myself a good talking to and tell myself Iād try harder tomorrow.
Tomorrow came and the same thing would happen over and over againā¦
It was only when I truly understood how to identify the difference between hunger and cravings that I was able to see clearly that this binge eating behaviour wasnāt a conscious choice.
It was a self sabotage pattern (I'd go as far as to say a form of self harm).
It was a desperate attempt to seek pleasure in a time where I was emotionally depleted, physically exhausted and stressed out of my box.
It only ever happened after a crazy long and stressful day at work.
It never seemed to happen when I felt calm, at ease or happy.
So if youāre beating yourself up for craving sugar and giving in, then you might want to consider another way to approach it.
Using curiosity and compassion to understand why we donāt stick to our healthy eating and exercise regime is one of the biggest tools I teach in coaching.
When we are genuinely curious as to why we are craving something, without judgement, it can help us better understand and isolate the root cause.
And being compassionate towards ourselves in times of challenge helps us to fast track resolution.
Think about it this way; if it was your best friend, Iām willing to bet, you wouldnāt say the same things to her as you say to yourself.
So Iām inviting you to get curious and compassionate about the root cause of your sugar cravings.
Is it truly hunger?
Is it sheer exhaustion?
Is there something else causing discomfort in your life?
This is why I believe that willpower, grit or determination isnāt enough to create long term weight loss.
Our behaviours are a product of deep rooted psychological programming that we need to isolate and rewrite.
So if
