Sending our best wishes to Linda, who has been part of our Ellon team from the near beginning of Aberness. Linda celebrated 10 years with us this year, and we are all very sad to see her go.

Are you someone who has cared for family or a neighbour and always thought about a career in care? Or are you someone with little/no care experience but always had an interest in making a difference to the lives of others?

We are looking to expand our growing team of Support Workers in the Community, those who visit our clients in their own homes to keep them comfortable and supported. If you are interested in joining our fantastic team, we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for caring, kind and reliable individuals who are motivated to make a difference to the care and support of adults in our local Community. We have a range of well established teams across Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City that we are enthusiastic to expand.

We have work available in the areas listed below. Static and full rotas, block hours with one client, nightshifts and social care work available.

⭐ June Employee of the Month - Community ⭐

Congratulations to our Community Support Worker, Alison, who was awarded June Employee of the Month.

Alison joined Aberness 1½ years ago and has been loyal to our Aberdeen City team for the duration.

Alison is described as a team player and a great communicator. She is always quick to respond to changing circumstances and will offer assistance to help whenever she can.

A massive congratulations to our Ellon Community Support Worker, Lisa, who has achieved her SVQ Level 6 in Social Services and Health Care 😊⭐

Lisa completed her SVQ with one of our inhouse SVQ Coordinators - when asking Lisa about her experience, here is what she had to say:

"When doing my SVQ I found it challenging and hard work but in reality it wasn’t, I was just over thinking it as I know how to do my job but as they say it’s harder putting it pen to paper. As I think about my journey since becoming a support worker with Aberness in 2015 I can’t think of doing anything else as I love my job and all my clients. Everything I’ve learnt over the years, difficult situations I’ve been in and writing about all those things have paid off. Not only did I gain experience for it all but I’ve the peace of mind I’ve done my job correctly. And I can’t thank my assessor enough for getting me through it 💜😘"

Lisa, congratulations again! We are all very proud of you and hope you celebrate this amazing achievement 🤩🥳

Masters degree in Science Energy Management.
His family weren’t able to be here for his special day, so our office team went to support him.

A huge congratulations to Lana, who was awarded Employee of the Month for April 2024.

Lana celebrates 1 year with Aberness this month, after being recommended to join by a friend. Lana quickly settled into our Peterhead Team and has been a joy to have onboard from the beginning.

Lana is recognised as a team player, and always one of the first to come forward with an offer to help.

The positive feedback received regarding Lana’s attitude and approach has been consistent across the board. Management, oncall, colleagues and clients have all commended Lana in their own way.

COMMUNITY CARE INSPECTION

The Care Inspectorate visited our Community office on Tuesday to commence a routine inspection. We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded grade 5s (very good).

Thank you so much to our incredible team for their ongoing hard work and dedication to Aberness. A special thank you to Clare (Ellon) and Susan (Westhill) for their assistance with the practice observations over the past couple of days - you both did amazing 🤩

Aberness is hosting a recruitment day for Community Support Workers in Ellon next week. If you know of anyone who might be interested in attending, please share the details below.

Date: Tuesday 14th May 2024
Place: New Inn Hotel – Ellon (Hayloft Lounge)
Time: 10:00 – 16:00

The lounge will be open to all members of the public, where there will be an opportunity to have a chat with someone for further information, or apply/interview on the day.

We are ideally looking for applicants who can commit to full-time or part-time hours, however, will also be accepting relief.

The hours available in Ellon are morning/lunch shifts (07:00 – 14:00) and tea/bed shifts (15:45 – 22:00). **Applicants must have a full driving license and access to a car to engage with the work available**

Helen Ross has worked with Aberness since July 2021 initially as our SVQ Assessor.
Since then Helen completed her Verifier Course and has now been promoted to SQA Coordinator.
Helen will be responsible for overseeing the management of our SQA centre, assessing and verifying candidates and supporting Gail in her new role.

Welcome Gail Clubb to Aberness as our SVQ Assessor in Aberdeen.
Gail has worked in both Education and Health & Social Care since 1993.
Gail has worked as a care assistant within care homes, support worker and up to assistant manager in a residential and supported living establishment.
Gail went on to work as a care manager within a community care team and then pupil support assistant supporting young adults with additional support needs.
Gail has completed an SVQ in Direct Care and also has her Assessor award in Health & Social Care.

Congratulations to our Support Worker, Judith Douglas who was awarded Employee of the Month for January 2024. Judith joined our team in April 2023 and has worked in a variety of care homes within Aberdeen and Shire. Clients have remarked that Judith is a hard worker and a good team player. Judith is keen to start her SVQ training to expand her knowledge of the caring role. We are grateful to have Judith as a part of the Aberness Agency team ♥♥

Mary has worked in many of the care homes and has had high praise for the work she has undertaken. Mary has a strong work ethic and is very much a team player.
