📢 Introducing The Driving Assessment Grant (DAG), funded by the Motability Foundation and administered by Driving Mobility, supports disabled drivers who aren’t on the Motability scheme.

🚗 If you or someone you know needs support to stay on the road, DAG could help.

For James Sweeney, driving has always been essential. Living with spinal muscular dystrophy, he relied on his car for work, errands, and hobbies. But after the Covid pandemic, his mobility worsened, and he worried about his safety behind the wheel.

A driving assessment at his local Driving Mobility centre confirmed he needed push-pull hand controls to continue driving. That’s when he learned about the DAG Grant, which covered the cost of his assessment and vehicle adaptations.

“I was unaware there was funding to cover driving adaptations. This was fantastic news,” says James. “The process was quick and stress-free.”

Now, with his new controls fitted, James feels safer and more independent. “I feel like I’ve been driving with them for years. Just being able to get to the shops on my own is massive.”

📣 We are excited to announce the opening of our new outreach facility in Inverness! 📣

At Driveability Scotland, we’re committed to helping people stay safe and independent on the road. Our expert team provides fitness to drive and vehicle adaptation assessments to support drivers with medical conditions or disabilities.

With centres already established in Glasgow and Aberdeen, our new Inverness outreach facility, supported by the Motability Foundation, means we can now offer our specialist services to even more people across Scotland.

Referred to Driveability Scotland through Motability, David Brown recently attended an assessment at our new Inverness outreach facility.

🗣 His verdict? “Life-changing.” David needed vehicle adaptations to continue driving, he faced a challenge as his closest assessment centre was almost 3 hours away.

“The Inverness outreach facility is a Godsend,” he shared. “It will help so many people regain their independence. This will change lives for people in the Highlands.”

With expert assessments, a supportive team, and tailored vehicle adaptations, we’re here to help drivers like David stay safe, confident, and independent on the road.
