💜🌸 We should all have these ladies Monday motivation! 🌸💜

Every week without fail, these ladies come down and join in our fitness and wellness group. Today they done their chair exercises and then finished the morning off with a lovely bowl of mixed berries gluten free granola.

Some of our ladies absolutely smashing personal goals this week too.

Today saw the first fitness and wellness group in Waterside View.

Residents joined in to discuss little changes they wanted to make through the next week to meet their own fitness and wellness goals, and took part in a chair based exercise session. We finished our group session off with a refreshing watermelon and lime smoothie which is a natural detox for your immune system, great for healthy hair, skin, eyes and nails, not to mention it was delicious.

Looking forward to seeing what next Monday brings ☀️🌸😀

World Parkinson’s Day marks the birthday of Dr. J Parkinson in April of each year. On this day there are efforts made to increase the public awareness of this terrible disease, as well as all the good works put forth by the world’s organizations that are dedicated to preventing and finding a cure for this debilitating disease.

History of World Parkinson’s Day
Dr. James Parkinson, an English doctor and scientist, first described the disease in “An Essay on the Shaking Palsy”, which was published in 1817. He described a pattern of lessened muscular power, involuntary tremulous motion, even if these are supported. He also wrote of the fact that there is a tendency for people with this disease to bend the body forward and to involuntarily switch from a walking to a running pace, while the sense and intellect deteriorate.
It wasn’t until several decades later, in the 1870s, that the ailment was given the name Parkinson’s Disease (sometimes called PD). When French Neurologist Jean Martin Charcot picked up and continued the work started by Dr. Parkinson, Charcot then named the disease in honor of him. 💜

NATIONAL PUPPY DAY🐶

Observed each year on March 23rd, National Puppy Day celebrates the unconditional love and affection puppies bring to our lives. Their cuddles and wiggles make us smile and without a doubt, there are squeals of delight when there are puppies around!

National Puppy Day was founded in 2006 by Pet Lifestyle Expert, Animal Behaviorist and Author, Colleen Paige. Paige is also the founder of National Dog Day and National Cat Day. 💜

On March 21 we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day! This is a day to come together to celebrate Down syndrome and raise awareness. 💜

In 2013, the theme of Wearing Odd Socks was initiated to raise awareness. Over time it has also been promoted as Lots of Socks. The idea was created because chromosomes are shaped “like socks” and people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome.
