Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection ✨ Now available to stream on ITVX In this brand new documentary series, Olivia Attwood will be going behind the theatre doors, meeting the everyday people who are going under the knife to achieve the ‘perfect’ body. From changing beauty trends to groundbreaking new procedures, Olivia will explore how far we are willing to go and exactly how much we are willing to pay to reach that ever-changing goal. This fresh and immersive programme will see Olivia take on a new role, investigating five of the most popular body parts for cosmetic surgery in the UK. Embedding herself with patients and practitioners and even testing out some treatments for herself, Olivia brings a warm and nonjudgmental tone to the series, as viewers witness procedures for the ‘Face’, ‘Boobs’, ‘Bottom’, ‘Vagina’ and ‘Pen*s’. Frank, funny and relatable, this series lifts the lid on our search for the perfect body. During one of Olivia’s laser hair removal appointments, we discussed the trends of how women prefer to shape their pubic hair and how the area changes as we age; so the choice of laser hair removal style is something to bare in mind. We mention the treatments that are available from filler to surgery; whilst also raising awareness that there is a wide range of “normal” as I share my FGM story, discussing the presence of this act within a variety of communities around the world. Last night, I was deeply honoured to receive the Dianne Oxberry; The Special Impact Award, and the significance of this recognition overwhelmed me. Dianne, a cherished figure in our homes in the North West, she was our Northern Royalty. Her friends describe her as someone who brought sunshine and light to everyone she encountered. Receiving an award in her name adds an extra layer of meaning and emotion. Adversity presents a choice: to let it define you, succumbing to victimhood, or to confront it head-on and emerge stronger. I unequivocally chose the latter path. It is a testament to resilience and survival. I also want to draw attention to the critical issue of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Communities that practice FGM must recognize the lifelong damage it causes. FGM is a violation of human rights, a form of child abuse that cannot be justified under the umbrella of ‘culture.’ Both in the UK and globally, there are numerous survivors of FGM, many of whom suffer in silence. I am committed to being a voice for these silent survivors, advocating for their rights and working towards eradicating this harmful practice. This award is so special to me. It’s my story, it’s my narrative. The government brought forward an amendment to the Health and Care Act 2022 which gives the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care the power to bring into force a licensing scheme in England for non-surgical cosmetic procedures. The purpose of the scheme is to ensure that consumers who choose to undergo a non-surgical cosmetic procedure can be confident that the treatment they receive is safe and of a high standard. Under the proposed scheme, practitioners will need to be licensed to perform specific procedures and the premises from which they operate will also need to be licensed.
