Congratulations to my friend and colleague James, and all his staff on this milestone!
Not many know this, but James Bontoft Optometrist is the big brother to Ambleside Opticians just by a few months 😁.
James and his great team have provided a15 years of caring service to the residents of Barnoldswick who are very lucky to have these guys look after their eyes!!

Just received my new Medical Retina certificate! 🩷 🩵🧡💚💜

I've been studying with Cardiff University School of Optometry & Vision Sciences since 2022, and completed my second course in this amazing, and vast, specialty called Medical Retina.

Many conditions can affect the retina, which is the light-sensitive lining of the back of the eye. These include age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macula oedema, retinal vein occlusion and inherited retinal diseases.

I feel so lucky and grateful that I work with eyes - they are spectacular beyond words, and this work gives me so much pleasure and satisfaction.
In turn, I hope my learning keeps making positive contributions to my patients' best eye health care, and to all our medical professional allies who we work with.

Hi guys - something fun and exciting to share!

The ANTS optical imaging competition is underway!
Participants were asked to submit 3 entries of pathology seen at the anterior part of the eye, and these are the 3 we submitted:

1, Christmas tree cataract - without doubt one of the the most beautiful types of cataract!
2. Rosette cataract - with its double rosette, it looked just like the Anemone Nemorosa which was flowering in our garden the same time!...are we right about that Holehird Gardens ?
3. Iris atrophy and distorted pupil - caused by the herpes zoster virus which is responsible for both chicken pox and shingles.

Do you think any of these will make the winning entry? Let's hope for some good news!!

I'm always amazed when what we consider undesirable can be so beautiful!

I love my beautiful bouquet and the heartfelt appreciation that comes with it. It perfectly symbolises the lovely relationship I have with my patients.

I care passionately about my patients' eye health, and I'm grateful for the trust, and confidence they have in me.

Even as an Optician, I rarely have a day where I am not amazed by how incredible our eyes are! Please take every care to look after them! 🩷
