Practice update

In line with NHS England guidance and to ensure equity of access for all our patients, Cornerways is changing the way in which patients can request appointments and other healthcare-related items. So, with effect from 17th March, we will be moving away from our current process to a new online triage tool called Anima. To ensure you have access to this system please register via the Practice website with effect from 17th February. For further details please visit our website, or join us at our Patient Open Information Evening on Wednesday 5th March at 6.30pm at Poulner.

You may have received a text/letter from NHS England regarding MMR vaccination for your child. This was sent to ALL patients regardless of vaccination status. You do not need to contact the surgery to check – we will contact any children who are outstanding to give them the opportunity to have their catch up vaccinations. You can also check your red book where childhood vaccinations will have been recorded at the time of administration.

On top of our usual high demand for appointments at this time of year, we are seeing a growing number of phone calls, mainly related to concerns around strep A infection/scarlet fever, following reports that there has been an increase of cases. While most children will only have a mild illness, some may become seriously unwell, so if you are concerned about your child, please seek medical help.

We are doing our best to ensure patients who need to be seen on the same day can be. We may not have capacity to see everyone and understand that delays getting through can be frustrating.

We may need to temporarily delay routine appointments to ensure urgent cases can be seen quickly. This will be done according to clinical need, and we will do what we can to reduce disruption to patients. If you are unable to attend an appointment or need to rearrange, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can offer it to others.

Please be patient with us and if your reason for contacting us isn’t urgent please consider getting back in touch on another day. If you can have your request dealt with online such as repeat prescription requests or fit to work certificates, please email [email protected].

Fordingbridge Surgery hosted the Avon Valley Primary Care Network (AVPCN) Covid Vaccination Programme over the weekend of 23rd and 24th April, offering Spring boosters to the patients of Ringwood Medical Practice, Cornerways Medical Centre and Twin Oaks in addition to Fordingbridge Surgery patients.

On behalf of AVPCN, we would like to extend our thanks to all who attended for their patience during Saturday’s clinic which did not progress as we expected it to, as we understand there were some significant delays. This was due to an unforeseen reduction in vaccinators on the day, and a clinical incident which required urgent medical attention to be provided by some of the clinical staff. We would also like to thank our amazing volunteers who, as always, did an amazing job in challenging circumstances.

We expect our next clinics to run much more smoothly, and all patients can help with this by arriving on time – not too early or too late- for their appointment to allow the administrators enough time to attend to the required paperwork, and for those who are able to walk the short distance from the Fordingbridge main town carpark to park there to release the onsite parking for those with Blue Badges or mobility issues.
We look forward to welcoming you for your boosters over the coming weeks.
