Oh it’s heartbreaking that yet another brilliant service has had to close due to lack of financial support. Those monopolising funding or indeed holding back funds for vital services should be ashamed of themselves. The ‘system’ has to change. I’ve not yet found one person within Torbay’s local authority or council administration truly listening and wanting to back social care reform at grassroots. Change can happen now but fat cat egos and historical partnerships need to get out of the way and allow it to happen. This wonderful org was in Newton Abbott but I’m sure they faced very similar within the Teignbridge area if our experience of the Teignbridge VCSE sector is anything to go by.

Please, a call out to ANY councillor or local purse string holder who truly does want social care reform and happy to stand out from the political crowd, contact me and let’s discuss! 😞💕 LocalMotion Torbay Torbay Council Devon County Council

It is with a heavy heart that we share the café is facing closure next Friday due to persistent financial challenges. The pressures of the current economic climate, including the after-effects of the COVID pandemic, the ongoing energy crisis, and the rising cost of living, have made it increasingly difficult to provide the one-on-one trained support our participants deserve.
Unfortunately, disrupted funding from the DWP Access to Work program and an increase in Employer National Insurance contributions pose further challenges.

We have always been more than just a café; it’s been a nurturing community space where individuals with varying abilities could develop essential skills and gain valuable work experience. Since opening its doors in June 2020, the café has become a beacon of hope for many, employing 18 local people and has flourished into a warm and inclusive environment that our participants, staff, and visitors cherish 🧡

We want to celebrate all that our team has achieved

🌸The café has supported 115 adults in completing work experience placements with tailored one-on-one support. –
🌸We have helped seven students complete supported internships in collaboration with local specialist and mainstream colleges.
🌸One young person successfully completed a Supported Apprenticeship and secured paid employment outside our organisation.
🌸The café provided a crucial social outlet through our "Social Saturdays" for adults we have worked with, who might otherwise feel isolated after leaving our program
🌸43% of our paid staff within the café have disabilities, a much higher proportion than most employers

⭐️In January 2023, No Limits launched a Supported Employment Outreach service to assist adults in finding paid employment

Through our outreach program alone, we have supported 🌟19 adults in securing paid employment across Devon🌟!

Our successful Crowdfunder, which garnered immense support from the local community last year, helped us accomplish remarkable things allowed us to operate for a further nine months. The funds helped us cover core operational costs, and bridge gaps caused by DWP delays and contested awards. We were able to support a further 22 individuals through Work Experience programmes, as well as 6 individuals a week through long term placements.

As we navigate these final days of operation, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our journey: the incredible participants, our dedicated staff, the local businesses and organisations that have stood by us, our funding partners, and the community that has embraced our mission. Your support has meant the world to us, and it’s painful to see such a vital resource come to an end.

For those who recognise there’s so much more to this world than what we are seeing playing out around us at the moment this is for you…

I feel the need to balance the calling out of the corruptness of our local Council and several of their leads/officers with a little light-hearted coaching for those most affected by their egos, inadequacies and misdemeanors. Not only them but their ‘friends’ and ‘preferred partners’ too who are just out for themselves and have no wish to truly collaborate or engage if they see their income stream being affected or stopping, even though what they are offering is no longer working or seriously needs to be restructured.

Coaching is what I know and love best; it’s where I sit most comfortably; listening, observing, using my intuition and connecting with truth. Ironically it’s during those times that more insight appears, more information and more approaches made to me by people who are working brilliantly to expose the truth, including ex-council workers. Trust all will be revealed. It will!

In the meantime, if you’d like a little intuitive guidance, foresight or comfort, choose which card you’re drawn to… left, middle or right. Depending on numbers I may dive a little deeper for you!

Happy Sunday all 😊💕

If the mountain seems too big today
then climb a hill instead;
If morning brings you sadness
it’s okay to stay in bed.
If the day ahead feels heavy and your plans feel like a curse,
There’s no shame in rearranging,
don’t make yourself feel worse.
If a shower stings like needles
and a bath feels like you’ll drown;
If you haven’t washed your hair for days,
don’t throw away your crown!
A day is not a lifetime.
A rest is not defeat.
Don’t think of it as failure,
Just a quiet, kind retreat.
It’s okay to take a moment
From an anxious, fractured mind.
The world will not stop turning
While you get realigned!
The mountain will still be there
When you want to try again
You can climb it in your own time,
Just love yourself till then!

*UPDATE* Just 200 people out of a potential 1500 seat capacity attended last nights meeting proving that the editor of Torbay Weekly cannot be trusted to accurately report on Torbay Council ‘activities’. He had a meet with a Reform supporter this week who suggested Jim is the antidote for bringing Torbay Council into good light. I think not. This is someone who’s suggested I ‘keep my mouth shut’ when calling out monies handed inappropriately to Torbay Communities (an organisation set up by the council initially and - you guessed it - Jim Parker is a Trustee). The Council threatened to sue me but with two councilors resigning as trustees of said company, it all went quiet. There is so much more to come to light (not just from me!) including bullying, ostracism, secret conversations and more, not just from the Council but individuals and organisations working with them as ‘preferred suppliers’ and ‘partners’. Queue Brendon Prince calling me a bitter woman again for raising and questioning unfairness and underhand tactics used to manipulate local assets and formal processes. When it’s for the good of ALL in Torbay I’ll take worse labels than that **

Oh my! This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen related to Torbay Council and Torbay Weekly and I’ve seen, heard and experienced A LOT over the past seven years as part of my research into systemic change needs locally.

This report is related to an event which as I type hasn’t even taken place yet!!! It’s on now, 6pm to 8pm.

You cannot make up the inadequacies of this council and their pals. The sooner this Council is dissolved the better and thank god much is now coming to light. Shame on the leads and Jim Parker for this latest ‘gaff’!! 🙄💕

I was due to have an online meeting at 2pm with a manager from the Policy, Performance and Engagement team at Torbay Council to discuss inclusivity but they were a no show. The irony - performance and engagement 🧐💕
