Karen, a Team Leader, and Phoebe, a Care Assistant, have worked at Canterbury House Care Home since it opened its doors in June 2021. Their paths at work are often intertwined, with days spent alongside one another, deepening their connection.

For Karen and Phoebe, working together has given them a chance to inspire each other. Karen says, “Working with my daughter has taught me a lot. I’m very proud to not only be Phoebe’s mother, but also to be her colleague.”

As residents at Canterbury House celebrated Mother's Day, so did colleagues. For Phoebe, working with her Mum on Mother’s Day is always a special occasion.

"Not only do I get to spend time with my mum on this special day, but we feel like a part of the day for many other residents whilst they spend time with their own families. We hope it marks a memorable moment for everyone."

A mother can be a daughter’s best friend; and at Anchor - St Mary's care home in Ipswich, Sally Purchase, her daughter, Charlene Davies, and her granddaughter Taylor Vince show they can be colleagues too!.

Every day can be a chance to recognise the special people around us, and Mother's Day at St Marys captured more than a workplace connection. A grandmother, mother, and daughter who don't just work together, but see Anchor as an extension of their own family, demonstrating that some legacies are worth continuing, and some paths worth walking side by side.
