A message from our fearless leader, co-owner and acupuncturist, Beth Herzig.
We're so grateful to live by this gorgeous, rocky coast.
Today, Leah shows us how to use acupressure with the Yin Tang acupuncture point.
Located at the third eye, this is a wonderful point for calming the spirit, easing anxieties, nasal congestion and headaches.
Acupressure is easy to do on yourself, and can be a fun thing to do with your loved ones! Have you tried it yet?

ACUPRESSURE is something anyone can do at home!! These are the same points we’d normally put needles in but a little pressure and massage can have a similar effect.
Here, @leahcc14 shows us STOMACH 36, which boosts the immune system, and helps combat fatigue and stress (+ the upset stomach that usually comes with the stress).
(Parent tip: try this on your kids when they appear anxious - which can be shown through stomach ache, worry or tantrum behavior)

Here, Leah Kavanagh shows us HEART 7, which is really helpful in easing anxiety and promoting healthy sleep.

Traditional Gua Sha
Feeling congested? Stressed? Tight neck or shoulders?
One of the therapies we use in Traditional Chinese Medicine is Gua Sha. We especially love it this time of year, when colds and congestion can linger in the lungs. Gua sha involves scraping a gentle tool across the skin to boost blood circulation. It’s a great therapy to:
> reduce chronic neck or back pain
> ease migraines or headaches
> reduce inflammation in sore muscles
> stimulate the immune system to speed up the natural healing process
> break up colds + congestion
> promote anti-aging by tightening the skin + reducing wrinkles
> ease tension + stress, promotes relaxation
> less invasive therapy (needle-free)
Here, Leah Kavanagh shows us what it looks like.
Acupuncture for Addiction
Did you know that acupuncture can be an effective tool for treating a drug or alcohol addiction?
Overcoming an addiction is an incredibly complex and difficult journey, often requiring a variety of methods to be successful. Studies show that acupuncture can help support recovery and the detoxification process. It can also help ease the stress, anxiety and trauma underlying a dependance on substances. We use auricular acupuncture (points on the ear) that can help ease the symptoms of withdrawal while calming the nervous system.
Acupuncture in conjunction with other therapies such as counseling, social support, and mental health care often help people experience a more positive attitude toward the process of recovery, and reduction of anxiety, cravings, and trouble sleeping. It can also help reduce the use of pharmaceuticals.
If you, or someone in your life could benefit from using acupuncture to combat addiction, please call our office at 775-2059 or visit us at Community Night on Tuesday’s from 6-8 at Good Medicine Collective.
