Our Story
Peaceful Life Incorporated was founded in 1999 by Nancy Griffin and was family-owned and operated. In 2005, Peaceful Life became a subdivision of Progeny Enterprises Incorporated, a corporation founded by Charity Barrett. Charity Barrett purchased the original Peaceful Life from her mother and opened up two additional locations within the first year.
Peaceful Life focuses on providing care to residents in an intimate, home-like setting where they can feel like family. We feature semi-private, as well as private, rooms that are more than adequately furnished. There is also some space for minimal personal memoirs. Internet and streaming/cable services available in common areas and bedrooms for additional fee. There are community areas designed for television viewing, exercise, reading, and other forms of entertainment. We also feature private couple rooms for couples that desire to live together in assisted living.
Peaceful Life is the small, residential setting, as opposed to the large multi-unit facilities. Each location is carefully decorated to avoid resemblance of an institution. The residential setting helps residents feel that they are at home. The staff are trained to treat residents with dignity. Staff are encouraged to treat the residents like they are at home because they are. To increase autonomy and self-esteem, staff only offer assistance when requested or when known assistance is needed.
High functioning residents are encouraged to attend the local community centers and participate in activities of their liking. Lower functioning residents that remain in the home may rest, socialize, or receive visits from family. We encourage and welcome family, friends, volunteers, and local churches to visit the home and engage the residents in activities seven days a week.
