We've been working hard behind the scenes to bring you 8 awesome groups this summer holidays! Our January groups are packed with fun activities, social connection, and skill-building opportunities for children and teens across Perth.

Here’s what’s on:

Today we recognise Human Rights Day. 'Our Everyday Essentials' - this year's theme - reaffirms the values of human rights which shape our daily lives, often in ways we don't always notice.

We create inclusive communities at Rocky Bay 🫶 Each individual we support has the opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of everyday life with ‘Active Support’, which empowers our customers to make their own choices and have even greater opportunities to explore activities and relationships meaningful to them.

Two years ago we partnered with La Trobe University as part of a research project on Active Support in our supported accommodation homes. The result? Our support teams are trained and inspired to make Active Support part of a daily practice. Every customer is encouraged to be independent in every way possible, putting them in control of their everyday essentials.

Can you help create a Christmas full of connection? 🤝

For families like Janelle O’Brien’s, the holidays look very different. Janelle, who is mum to two boys with ASD and ADHD, recently drove hundreds of kilometres from Geraldton to Perth, flat tyre and all, so they could attend a week-long therapy program at Lady Lawley Cottage (LLC).

“Services are inundated up here,” Janelle says. “They can’t offer the intensive programs you get at Lady Lawley.”

Our LLC respite accommodation will open in the new year, and with your support, we can create a safe, inclusive hub where WA kids with disabilities feel nurtured, siblings become friends, and families find their much-needed village of support.

What does staying at our Short-Term Respite feel like? ✨🌟

Rocky Bay’s Hydro Heroes is a six-week water-based therapy program led by our experienced therapists. 🦸

The program helps children of all ages develop water skills and learn water safety, while also supporting movement, confidence, and communication. 🏊

For two-year-old Elishah and three-year-old Bohdi, Hydro Heroes has made a huge difference - but their starting points with water couldn’t have been more different.

“I always look forward to seeing Georgia every week, she makes every session fun, and we all have a laugh and a joke together. She’s really helped me come a long way in terms of my speech and using the communication device...I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come!” 🫶

Ahead of Day of People with Disability - Australia we chatted with Chris, whose life changed in 2018 when at just 49-years-old he experienced a stroke. He was left with little function in his upper right arm, reduced walking speed and difficulty with verbal expression.

Thanks to rehab and his own determination, Chris lives independently and accesses the community with the support of his mum, Moira. Our Advanced Clinician Speech Pathologist, Georgia, works with Chris to harness the power of his communication device, which has been an absolute game-changer for him when moving around the community!🙌

Chris’s life changed in January 2018, leading him down the path of rehabilitation and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support his speech.
