Celebrating people, place & a big year at TBB.

As we wrap up 2025, we’re taking a moment to reflect. From the launch of our refreshed brand, to industry recognition for Lex and Sam, to exciting client projects, it’s been a year of growth, momentum and meaningful milestones.

Most of all, we’re grateful for our clients and community — thank you for trusting us to help shape places that have a lasting, positive impact. And to our incredible team, thank you for the care, curiosity and heart you bring to everything you do.

Big congratulations to Jillian Bardos 👏

We’re really proud to share that Jillian has received a Curtin University DBE award recognising her research into Perth’s public transport — a piece of student work that’s made a meaningful contribution to the broader understanding of our city’s transport network.

A big thank you to Daniel Janssen and Rebecca Curry, who presented the award on behalf of the Public Transport Authority, and for taking the time to acknowledge the importance of research-led thinking in public transport.

And… can we talk about that very cool limited-edition gift? 👀 You have to ask her what she got.

Well done, Jillian. We’re incredibly proud of your achievement and the curiosity, rigour and care you bring to your work. 🚆✨

Big milestone for the Exmouth community!

Sundrift Estate is being released within the Exmouth Marina, offering a range of new housing opportunities, local parks and employment opportunities.

Working with Celsius Land and the Fowler Group, TBB Planning coordinated with the team to guide a rezoning, subdivision approval and, in consultation with government and the Shire, a pragmatic framework for subsequent development.

This project has been an important team effort and required close collaboration with the Shire and DPLH to optimise the way forward, to help accelerate housing supply in the town.

It is also an exemplar that demonstrates how the challenges of land development in remote regional towns can be made to work for the private sector.

Congratulations to everyone involved:
Celsius Property Group | Fowler Group | JBS&G - An Independent Accredited Environmental Consultancy | Oversby Surveying | PLAN E Landscape Architects | Porter Consulting Engineers | PTG | Western Environmental | Nocterra

What does it mean to truly walk together — to listen, learn, and connect beyond the work we do every day?

Earlier this month, our TBB Family Day gave our team and their families the opportunity to spend a Saturday together on Wadjemup (Rottnest Island).

Guided by Aurora Abrahams and her daughters, we explored the island’s history and its deep cultural significance — learning how Wadjemup connects to Aboriginal communities across WA.

This experience formed part of our Reconciliation Action Plan journey, offering a moment to walk, share and reflect together — to connect in a truly meaningful way.

Thank you to Aurora and her family for their generosity, knowledge and care.

A day of learning, reflection and sunshine we won’t forget.
We do this with heart. 💛

At the northern edge of Western Australia, the historic port of Wyndham is writing its next chapter. It’s a story about heritage, tourism and community.

Recently, Senior Associate Katherine Shirley and Associate Cassie Barrow took their IAP2 engagement skills north to support community consultation for the Wyndham Historical Port Precinct Revitalisation project.

Working alongside the Kimberley Development Commission and Pracsys Economics, they spent time listening to locals, gathering stories, aspirations and ideas to help shape a plan that honours Wyndham’s history while opening new opportunities for tourism, business, community and cultural connection.

By reimagining the port as a place to visit, explore and stay, the project will help attract new investment, revitalise local spaces and celebrate what makes the port truly unique: its people, its history, and its enduring sense of place.

A project like this takes a collective effort. We’re lucky to be part of a talented team shaping the future of Wyndham's Historical Port:
TBB Planning (community engagement);
Pracsys Economics (economic analysis and investment strategy);
Colliers (infrastructure analysis); and
Peter Hobbs Architects (urban design and architecture).

Welcome back, Claire! 👋

We’re thrilled to welcome Claire Boland back to the TBB Planning family as Senior Associate.

Claire first joined TBB in 2017 and made a big impact before taking her career in a new direction — gaining valuable experience in a multidisciplinary firm and, even more importantly, becoming a mum.

With her deep planning expertise, collaborative spirit and familiar friendly face, we’re so excited to have Claire back on the team! 💫

🎉 Celebrating Remarkable Milestones

At TBB Planning, our people are the heart of everything we do and we’re celebrating three incredible team members who’ve shaped our story through their talent, dedication and expertise.

🌟 Katherine Shirley – 15 years (joined September 2010)
A natural collaborator and thoughtful planner, Katherine has spent 15 years helping shape places and conversations across WA. From leading community engagement in regional towns to crafting planning strategies that balance vision and practicality, she’s known for her calm leadership, sharp analysis and genuine care for people and place.

🌟 Michael Willcock – 15 years (joined October 2010)
Michael’s planning career spans from local government policies to major land development projects across the state. With his encyclopaedic planning knowledge, practical wisdom and collaborative spirit, he’s been a cornerstone of our team — guiding complex projects and mentoring others with patience and purpose.

🌟 Jarrod Ross – 10 years (joined October 2015)
Jarrod brings energy and insight to every challenge. His leadership in approvals and strategic planning has shaped some of WA’s most significant industrial and urban projects. Always curious and future-focused, he’s the go-to for turning complexity into opportunity.

Together, Katherine, Michael and Jarrod embody what TBB Planning stands for - curiosity, collaboration and care.

Thank you for everything you’ve achieved and contributed over the years. We’re so proud to celebrate these milestones with you.

What a brilliant night at the UDIA WA Awards for Excellence last week! 💫 Congratulations to all the winners and finalists for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in our industry.

TBB Planning was proud to once again sponsor the Masterplanned Community Award — a category close to our hearts. Big shout-out to Ellenbrook by Satterley Property Group and DevelopmentWA for taking home the win. Ellenbrook isn’t just a place on the map — it’s now home to nearly 25,000 residents, many young families, with high amenity, open spaces, and infrastructure that connects people and community.

We were also excited to see OneOneFive Hamilton Hill take home the Affordable Housing Award. TBB is proud to have played a role in shaping and planning this outstanding community, which is setting new benchmarks for affordability and quality living in WA.

And of course, the UDIA Awards are always a great excuse to glam up — our team looked pretty sharp! Thanks to UDIA WA for hosting another fantastic evening. 👏

TBB Planning is proud to support approval of Christ Church Grammar School’s $40m arts hub

We’re pleased to have played a key role in securing approval for CCGS Perform — a state-of-the-art performing arts centre that will deliver a 465-seat auditorium, classrooms, and creative spaces for decades to come.

This significant project, unanimously approved by the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel, will enhance the school’s arts curriculum and create a valuable asset for both students and the wider community.

Well done to our Lex Barnett and Melanie Cox for their expertise and commitment in guiding this application through to approval.
