What is your connection to the head and neck cancer community?
I joined the board of Head and Neck Cancer Support because I am deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected. Head and neck cancer is not only life-threatening but also profoundly life-altering. It impacts essential functions that many of us take for granted, such as speech, smell, taste, eating and swallowing. Beyond these physical challenges, it also affects a person’s appearance, self-esteem and overall quality of life, creating a ripple effect of emotional, psychological, and social challenges for patients and their loved ones.
Can you share a moment that has had the biggest impact on your journey?
As a healthcare professional, I have witnessed firsthand the courage and resilience of patients facing these challenges, and I am inspired to do more to support them. Through my role on the WAHNCSF board, I aim to contribute to increasing awareness about head and neck cancer, promoting early detection, and advocating for advancements in treatment and holistic care. I believe that education and awareness are key to driving change, not only in improving outcomes but also in reducing the stigma and isolation that often follows.
What piece of advice would you like to share with others?
At Grow Medical Group, I have seen the power of creating supportive, inclusive environments for patients, and I bring this same philosophy to my work with WAHNCSF. By fostering a strong community, providing resources, and advocating for better care pathways, I hope to help patients and their families navigate the complexities of this journey with dignity and hope.
