Meet the Team | Shanay – Lab Assistant
Specimens Reception, Osborne Park Laboratory WA
From a young age, Shanay was driven by curiosity. “My mum says I always loved answering the question ‘why’,” she shares. That inquisitive nature led her to study forensic science and ultimately pursue a career in pathology.
“I love working in a lab. Every day is different and I’m always learning something new. What really motivates me is knowing that what we do helps patients get the answers they need.”
As a Lab Assistant in Specimens Reception, Shanay thrives in the fast-paced environment. She enjoys the teamwork and says it feels like a family. Her role involves scanning and sorting patient samples, prioritising urgent cases and preparing specimens for interstate testing.
One of the most fascinating parts of her job is the variety of specimens that come through the lab, from routine blood samples to amputated fingers and even full limbs!
Shanay is proud to be part of a team that steps up when needed. Everyone pitches in during busy times and managers acknowledge the extra effort. It’s this combination of teamwork, scientific curiosity and patient care that makes Shanay proud of the work she does at Clinical Labs.
