To our beautiful Aurelia,
From the moment you arrived, you wrapped us in a love so big and so bright it changed us forever. You were tiny, but you filled every day with a softness, a sweetness and a strength that we still don’t have words for.
We dreamed of a lifetime with you, of watching you grow, playing with your cousins, hearing you all laugh together, holding your little hands as you led us around and explored the world. We wanted to give you everything, to protect you from everything, to keep you here with us forever.
We tried.
We tried with a fierce, desperate, endless love.
We fought every battle we could.
We searched the world for a way to save you.
But sometimes love isn’t enough and that is a pain we will carry for the rest of our lives.
You taught us more in your short time than most people learn in decades. You taught us courage. You taught us hope. You taught us what it means to be family willing to do anything anything for their child.
Now, our darling girl, all we can do is love you across the veil.
We will see you in every sunrise, feel you in every warm breeze, remember you in every soft moment.
We will carry you everywhere.
