The Queen Bee ... the heart of the hive.

The queen (referenced in this photo) lays the eggs, maintains harmony through natural pheromones and keeps the colony strong, calm, and productive. She is a force and for beekeepers, protecting the queen means protecting the future of the hive.

Smoking the bees is a calm and essential part of responsible beekeeping. A gentle puff of cool smoke encourages the bees to settle, masking alarm signals and allowing the beekeeper to inspect the hive without stress or disruption. The smoke is not about driving bees away - it’s about creating a moment of stillness, keeping both the bees and the beekeeper safe while the hive is carefully cared for.

Matilda’s middle name was Bee (Bea). Her parents have asked for the community to share pictures of bees in her memory and honour, so we would love to share this flutter of wings in her brave and beautiful name ✨💛

Sending love and strength to everyone in Bondi & beyond.

As the seasons shift and summer arrives, our bees have completed their winter and early spring foraging across Western Australia’s wildflower-rich regions. These cooler months are vital for nourishing strong, healthy hives, and after following the blooms north, we’re proud to now release our 2025 Wildflower Season Honey - harvested from a time of slow, natural production and rich, diverse nectar.

As the year draws to a close - we'd love to remind our wonderful community that 1% of their kind purchases give back to the environment at large, via our partnership with 1% For The Planet We are immensely grateful to you all for helping us make an impactful difference! 🌎🐝 ✅

This means 1% of every single sale goes directly towards supporting environmental regeneration and biodiversity projects - keeping Western Australia’s forest bees and ecosystems thriving for generations to come.

‘To head back to Noongar country brings back a lot of memories for myself as a young kid - living pretty much off the land. It’s such a special place. It’s nice to be home.’

It’s a busy time of year for everyone - especially our brilliant beekeepers, who have the privileged job of moving the hives to new locations where nectar is rich and flowing as summer heats up.

All year round, the team at Honey For Life is committed to ensuring Australians have access to the cleanest, purest, and most delicious bioactive honey.

Our Outback Organic MGO300+ is a premium multifloral honey harvested from the untouched north-central landscapes of Western Australia, far inland from Kalbarri. This isolated environment provides ideal conditions for producing pure, organic honey rich in natural bioactive compounds.

Sweet, warm and slightly smoky with notes of burnt muscovado sugar and Christmas cake! Perfectly on brand for this time of year!

“It’s the only fuel I’ll use moving forward for endurance training. Natural, clean, bioactive honey just makes sense for performance - and my body responds to it so much better than anything synthetic.” Buddy Franklin

With Buddy officially joining the hive, one of our key focuses has been exploring how honey can genuinely support performance in sport - replacing synthetic energy gels with real, bioactive fuel.

Over a year of marathon training for the Buddy noticed a clear difference; better endurance, no gut issues, and a smoother, more sustained energy release.

In Snap form, our Jarrah and Manuka honeys have become his trusted training companion - clean energy he trusts, and results he can feel every session.

Our Story

Since late 2016 our humble honey company has been hard at work establishing Manuka honey plantations on regenerated farmland across Western Australia’s South West region. We’re continually increasing our area under plantation year-by-year, aiming to become one of Australia’s leading suppliers of Manuka honey in the near future.

In 2019 Honey For Life purchased one of Western Australia’s leading commercial beekeeping operations Davies Apiaries which was established some 40 years ago. With a state-of-the-art extraction facility and 900 beehives, we’ve been hard at work expanding this operation ever since.

We also produce some of Australia’s most sought-after honey, which includes Active Jarrah, Karri and Red Gum. These varietals are all unique to Western Australia’s South West region, and we feel so lucky to be able to share them with you.
