We have been getting some beautiful and positive birth stories from some of our Calmbirth couples. And positive birth experiences despite how you have birthed is the most powerful way to spread the message that positive birth experiences can be achieved. With so many stories of 'birth trauma' being shared recently with evidence showing that one in three women experience birth trauma and now a parliamentary inquiry into it.
We wanted to reinforce that a positive birth experience is possible with the right education, support and preparation for childbirth. The Calmbirth program empowers you and your partner with all the necessary information to make informed decisions about your birth as well as providing you with all the practical skills to use to achieve a positive birth experience physically whilst mentally preparing you with a healthy mindset to dispel any subconscious fears or anxieties you may have about childbirth.
So a positive experience starts with asking yourselves...What kind of birth do you want? What does a positive birth experience mean for you?
Is it one that feels calm?
Where you feel safe?
Listened to and respected?
Where you feel empowered because you go into your birth prepared knowing your birth rights and that you have choices.
Knowing that you have researched and chosen the right care provider for your birth?
Knowing that your birth intentions will be respected.
Being watched and left alone, undisturbed to do your thing…
Surrendering to the process of birth knowing that you can go to your plan B and feel confident with the decision that you have made.
Here is a testimonial from a Calmbirth couple that attended a Calmbirth course with Calmbirth Director, Karen McClay
"Calmbirth gave me the tools to believe in my body and baby and know that they would work together for a positive outcome.
My husband sat beside me the entire time rubbing my back, holding my hand, or giving me water when needed. He also encouraged me to move and change position although, i was most comfortable on my side or on the toilet. It gave him the confidence to tell the midwife's my requests and support me in anyway he could.
"I cannot thank Karen enough for the knowledge and confidence it gave me to have such a positive birth. I can't wait
to do it again."
Let's spread the positive vibes to inspire and empower other pregnant couples to believe that they too can achieve a positive birth experience. If you have a positive birth experience you would like to share with us please email them to admin@calmbirth.com.au
