Sometimes one of the quietest aches in grief is not having a place to go. 🤍
Not everyone has a gravesite to sit beside.
Not everyone can visit the cemetery in another country.
Not everyone has ashes in their care.
Sometimes the place of rest is far away…
or held by someone else…
or simply doesn’t exist in a physical form.
And even though we know, deeply and spiritually, that our loved ones are always with us…
our human hearts still long for somewhere to go.
Somewhere to sit.
Somewhere to feel close in a tangible way.
Grief is layered like that.
The soul understands… but the body remembers.
It can be incredibly hard not having a physical space to honour them when the ache rises. When you just want to talk to them. When you want somewhere to place your hands and whisper their name.
Over the years I’ve come across such beautiful, gentle ways people create that connection at home.
A small memory corner with their photo and a candle. 🕯
A favourite flower planted in the garden.
A special chair that becomes “their spot.”
A piece of jewellery holding their energy close to your heart.
A journal where you write to them whenever you need. 📖
These sacred little spaces are not about holding on.
They are about honouring love.
They allow us to sit.
To speak.
To cry.
To smile at memories.
To feel them near in a way our human hearts can understand. 💗
Sometimes, in grief, creating a place where we can feel them close again is exactly what helps us gently release the need for their physical presence. It allows the relationship to shift… from physical to energetic. From touch to presence. From seeing to feeling.
Love does not disappear.
It changes form.
And when we create space for that love inside our homes and inside our hearts, we begin to realise… they were never limited to one place of rest. 🪽
If this speaks to you, perhaps consider creating something that feels right for your loved one. It does not have to be perfect. It just has to feel true.
Your connection with them is sacred.
And it is still very much alive 🤍
