I have found new rooms at St Luke Medical Centre to practice medical acupuncture. It is downstairs form my previous address.
I will now have receptionists and they will be able to take bookings. It is on the ground floor making it easily accessible and the centre has other doctors, nurses and great facilities. Parking is available.

It's getting too darn hot!
Some tips to avoid heat stroke

Drinking moderately cool liquids, such as water, coconut water, and iced tea, can help reduce body temperature by cooling the body internally.

Enjoy ice blocks by making your own with frozen low-calorie drinks, diluted fruit juice, and low-calorie cordial.

Have jelly ready for the kids and yourself.

Prevent dehydration, a major cause of increased body heat, by drinking cool liquids frequently, such as water, iced tea, coconut water, and sugar-free soft drinks.

Taking cool showers, baths, and foot baths can make you feel refreshed.

If possible, use air-conditioning or fans.

Take a book to the local air-conditioned shopping center and enjoy it while having a cool drink. Meet a friend, stroll, and chat.

Try to limit your time outside, wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Exercise early in the day or late afternoon.

Check on your elderly neighbors.

Ensure your pets have ample water and cool it with lots of ice cubes.

During the day, freeze your pillowcase (in a plastic bag) to have a cool pillow at night.

Use cotton sheets and pajamas.

Hey there, fellow weekend warriors! 🌟🌤️

As the weekend is over, I wanted to take a moment to talk about a topic that many of us are familiar with: injuries. 🤕⚠️ Whether you're hitting the basketball court, lacing up your running shoes, or grabbing your trusty tennis racket, kicking a football or soccer ball participating in sports and physical activities can bring so much joy and fulfillment. But it's important to remember that injuries can happen to anyone, including us weekend sport enthusiasts. 😅
You wake up on Monday morning feeling aches and pains in muscles you didn't even know existed. That triumphant feeling of scoring a goal or completing a challenging hike or a spin at the gym can quickly turn into aches and pains and the discovery of muscles you never knew you had. 🤦‍♂️💔

It's crucial to acknowledge the importance of taking care of ourselves, both during and after our weekend sports adventures. Here are a few tips to keep in mind to minimize the risk of injuries and ensure we can continue enjoying our favorite activities for years to come:

1️⃣ Warm up and cool down: Don't skip these essential steps! Spending a few minutes stretching and getting your muscles warmed up before diving into the action can significantly reduce the likelihood of strains or sprains.

2️⃣ Listen to your body: Pay attention to any signals your body may be sending. If something doesn't feel quite right, don't ignore it. Pushing through pain can lead to more severe injuries. Take a break, rest, or seek medical attention if needed.

3️⃣ Gear up: Make sure you have the appropriate gear and equipment for your chosen sport. Investing in quality protective gear, such as helmets, knee pads, or proper footwear, can provide an extra layer of defense against potential injuries.

4️⃣ Build up gradually: It's tempting to go all out and give 110% during our weekend escapades, but remember to pace yourself. Gradually increase the intensity and duration of your activities to allow your body to adapt and minimize the risk of overuse injuries.

5️⃣ Cross-train and strengthen: Engage in different types of physical activities to strengthen various muscle groups and prevent imbalances. Incorporating strength training and flexibility exercises into your routine can help improve overall fitness and reduce the likelihood of injuries.

Remember, accidents happen, even to the most experienced athletes. If you do find yourself dealing with an injury, don't hesitate to seek professional medical advice. Taking the time to properly recover and rehabilitate will ultimately lead to a faster and more complete return to your beloved weekend sports adventures. 🚑💪

Hello!

I was a General Practitioner in Sydney from 1984 until 2021. In 1997 I attained the Fellowship in Medical Acupuncture after studying for 4 years with the Australian Medical Acupuncture College and passing their exams.

I found that Western Medicine, whilst very important did not always have solutions to enable my patients to recover from illness and injury and the combination of both Western and Eastern medicine has enhanced patient care.

There are numerous studies published that show how acupuncture works and also evidence that it does work. Approximately 70 % of people respond to acupuncture.

There are many modalities that I use:
- Needles
- Laser (photobiomodulation- painless)
- Moxa (warming)
- Electroacupuncture (needles attached to electrical cords to
stimulate points)
- Ear and body somatotope acupuncture
- Yamamoto new scalp acupuncture

I am very excited to be moving from Unit 6 , 57 Burroughs Rd Karrinyup to Unit 8, 57 Karrinyup Rd Karrinyup. The move is on 4th January 2023.

There is parking available and lift access to the 2nd floor where I am located.
