Today was the last day of our group therapy program for this term. One of the topics we discussed over the last 6 weeks was compassion for self and compassion for others. We shared this beautiful poem with our group members and want to share it with you too.

Knowing how to put space between an incident that brings up strong emotions in us and our response to that incident, can help us respond in a healthy way, rather than react in a way that we may regret later.
Creating some space may involve pausing to take a few deep, slow breathes or going for a walk or making a cup of tea and slowly drinking it in the garden or any other activity that allows you to slow down and pause.

We are born with the need for safe, nurturing and secure relationships. Even one safe and secure connection, be it with a partner, family member, friend, neighbour, teacher or colleague can contribute positively to our mental health and overall wellbeing.

We also believe this to be true in a counselling relationship and here are at Argrove Counselling, developing safe and healthy connections with our clients is the foundation of our therapeutic work.

We are excited to welcome our first group participants today as we launch our Group Therapy program.

Our small groups are intentionally kept to a maximum of 8-10 people and we aim to create a safe and trauma informed space for all participants.

Our group facilitators are qualified therapists who have many years of experience in facilitating therapy groups. Importantly, they are also relational, warm and caring.

Would you like to know more or join our waitlist for the next group?

You're welcome to contact Kate at Argrove Counselling on 6115 0215 or email admin@argrovecounselling.com.au for more information or to pop your name on the waitlist for our next group.

Are you
-getting caught up in distressing emotions?
-stuck in patterns of negative thinking?
-thinking about the past or worrying about the future on a regular basis?
-finding yourself stuck in negative cycles?
-struggling to stay in the present moment?

Mindfulness practice can help you manage your stress, emotions and difficult situations.

Argrove Counselling is offering a 6 week Mindfulness Small Group Program. You'll have the opportunity to learn and practice how to relate to your experiences in ways that may help to manage your mood and life stressors.

Our group programs are intentionally kept small. There will be no expectation or pressure to share personal information, instead we'll create a safe space to share only what feels okay for you.

Sessions are approximately 2 hours duration each week for 6 weeks. Morning tea and resources will be provided. Our next group commences on Thursday 4th May at 10am.
The cost is $70 per session and participants who have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) referral from their GP may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate of $37.15 per session.

Please contact Argrove Counselling on 6115 0215 or email admin@argrovecounselling.com.au to find out if our Mindfulness Group may be a good fit for you.

If you happen to find this time of year challenging, stressful or anxiety provoking, then it may be helpful to look for choice points over Christmas. Rather than doing everything on automatic pilot, pause and reflect on what choices you have.
Our nervous system can stay more regulated, that is, feel calmer, safer and happier when we have choices. Consider choosing options that lead to a calmer, more peaceful Christmas period.

As we approach Christmas, we are very aware that not everyone's circumstances will be easy or joyful. Many families who are experiencing domestic and family violence will find themselves having to leave home with only the bare necessities on them.
The team here at Argrove value generosity and kindness therefore we are always trying to find ways to contribute to the community. This year for Christmas we will once again support the Armadale Domestic Violence Service by gifting them with Coles or Woolies vouchers and toiletries that they can distribute to their clients.
You are welcome to join us in giving. If you would like to gift someone a voucher or toiletries, you can drop it off at our Armadale location, Unit 3, 22 Prospect Road, Armadale before the 15th December. Please call ahead on 6115 0215 and let Kate know you'll be dropping by 😀
