🌸 International Women’s Day 2026 | Give to Gain 🌸

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, celebrates the power of generosity, collaboration and lifting one another up. 💜

Today, we proudly recognise the extraordinary contribution of women across aged care, disability support and the NDIS sector.

Did you know?
✨ Over 85% of nursing and personal care staff in aged care are women.
✨ Around 70% of disability support workers are women.
✨ More than 70% of people working within the NDIS are women.

These numbers tell a powerful story. Women are at the heart of our care sector — delivering dignity, independence and quality of life every single day.

And beyond the workforce, millions of unpaid carers across Australia dedicate their time and energy to loved ones — with more than 70% estimated to be women.

At Surgical House, we see the dedication, resilience and compassion that women bring to healthcare. We’re committed to supporting you — helping make sourcing consumables simpler and providing honest, reliable and caring service when you need it most.

Today, and every day, we say thank you to the women who give so much to our communities. 💐

When we Give to Gain, we all move forward — together.

🧧🐎 Celebrating Longevity in the Year of the Fire Horse 🐎🧧

Last week, Mel from Surgical House had the honour of attending the 2026 Chung Wah Community Care Longevity Luncheon — a truly special celebration marking the Year of the Fire Horse (which only comes around once every 60 years!).

Hosted by Chung Wah Community Care , this was the 14th annual luncheon bringing together seniors, families, community members and valued partners to celebrate Chinese New Year and promote wellness and longevity within the senior CALD community.

An incredible highlight — over 130 clients aged 90+ were recognised, including three amazing centenarians. What an inspiring testament to healthy ageing and strong community connection. 💛

Guests enjoyed a delicious banquet, speeches and vibrant traditional entertainment, including a spectacular Lion Dance performance 🦁✨

To top it off, our very own Mel won the Lucky Pony Prize Draw — a little extra prosperity to start the Year of the Fire Horse!

This year’s luncheon also proudly supported Autism WA, raising funds for an important community cause.

We’re grateful to be part of such meaningful celebrations and look forward to continuing our partnership with Chung Wah Community Care throughout 2026.

🚗💙 We love taking our training on the road!

Yesterday, the Surgical House team had the pleasure of delivering valuable continence and skin integrity training to the wonderful Support At Home Care Coordinators at Dovida Perth North East.

We were proud to be supported by Hartmann MoliCare and Ego Pharmaceuticals, helping ensure attendees received practical, evidence-based insights they can apply straight away.

A big thank you to:
✨ Nick Wheatley, new Clinical Account Manager at Hartmann MoliCare
✨ Ryan Lloyd, Hospital and Aged Care Specialist at Ego Pharmeaceuticals
✨ Talia de Souza, Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator at Dovida PNE, for helping bring this session together

With so many recent changes across Support at Home services, ongoing clinical education has never been more important. We’re proud to support care teams with the knowledge and confidence they need to deliver safe, high-quality care. 💙

If you’d like to book clinical training for your team, we’d love to help!
