Starting my own business has allowed me the opportunity to support a number of ‘for-purpose’ organisations. This has been achieved through providing services at a discounted rate, volunteering my time, or by making a cash contribution. Here are just some of the amazing organisations i have had the great privilege to be able to support this financial year 💙

Did you know there is a Mental Health First Aid program specifically tailored to Legal Professionals in Australia?

This week, I had the opportunity to deliver the Mental Health First Aid for Australian Legal Professionals program for the team at the Street Law Centre! What a fantastic group of passionate and committed people, providing free legal advice and legal assistance to the most vulnerable people in our community.

The leadership team at Street Law Centre saw the value of the MHFA for Australian Legal Professionals program in preparing their staff to have important and potentially life-saving conversations, and made a commitment to training 100% of their staff in this important program.

To find out more about the Street Law Centre, a not-for-profit organisation, including how you can support them to continue their important work in the community, please visit https://lnkd.in/gdZUyAND, and follow them here

Be a health(y) skeptic!

Here’s example of why understanding how to read food labels is important. The product on the left is 100 calories per 100g with 80% of those calories coming from sugar, despite the product being mostly cucumbers and vinegar (which contain very few calories).

The product on the right, manufactured by the same company has 17 calories per 100g of product and no added sugar. Calories from sugar for this product is 4%.

Rant over! 😁

Apologies in advance to all the 1970s Mums who liked to boil the brussel sprouts until they were khaki mush! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Brussel sprouts thinly sliced and sauteed in butter, served with cracked pepper and a sprinkle of Parmesan …. are the best! 😋

When my kids were young, they were keen soccer players, and were fortunate to have an amazing coach. ⚽️

Studying leadership at the time, I was intrigued by the coach’s unique ability to achieve such great results with these young kids. After observing for some time, I came to see what it was. He made them feel that they mattered.

To every young kid he met, he got down to their level, looked them straight in the eye and said, ‘I’m so glad to see you here today’. I watched the kids almost burst with pride as they heard those words.

They mattered.

Someone noticed that they had turned up, and were glad they had.

I think as adults, we’re not too different.

We want to matter. Too often we see leaders comparing their people to their own idealistic view of what’s needed, and trying to change them, rather than truly valuing them as they are.

When this happens, people turn up feeling like they don’t matter, they can’t make a difference and are wasting their time, energy and talent. Not everyone aspires to be the CEO, but people universally want to matter - in life and in work.

So what can we do to show our teams that they matter?

We can start by focusing on strengths, showing people that what they do makes a difference, that what they offer is valued and appreciated, and by saying ‘I’m so glad you’re here’.

Try this with your team today. I’d love to hear about the changes you see as a result 🌸

Somehow I’ve made these muffins even easier - you don’t even need to mix the eggs! But it works 😁

Brush a muffin pan with melted butter and break an egg into each muffin ring. Add cherry tomatoes, diced mushrooms, small blocks of cheese, baby spinach and spices. Push these into the egg and bake in the oven for 30 minutes, or until cooked to desired softness.

just eat real quick food 🤩
