Sugilite (pronounced 'SOO-GHEE-LITE'), is one of the modern mineral worlds favourites for both mineralogical collectors and metaphysical collectors. Plus its mined for the ore, and not just aesthetics, so many a specimen has gone the way of the crusher.
Appreciated for its rarity and incredible colour, it's a mineral that has only increased in value since discovery and that trend doesn't seem to be changing any time soon. This isn't said to discourage, but to help appreciate its magick, energy and rarity.
Less than a century of this mineral being in our knowledge makes it a unique one for us as it was first written about in 1944 by the Japanese petrologist Ken-ichi Sugi (1901–1948) for an occurrence on Iwagi Islet, Japan.
New minerals don't have the history and folklore attached to them so it allows us the chance to discover for ourselves what they can be utilised for. Sugilite is one powerful example of timing, coming through to our many understanding in the 70s around the free love movement, and being come to be known as a high vibration love stone, I think is no accident.
