Our aim is to offer exceptional service for people wanting to exercise, whether your goal is to be able to complete a set distance or race an event at the highest level we hope to be able to best assist you. Utilizing a team of health professionals and consultants across many endurance disciplines, including running, swimming, cycling we are best able to direct you toward specialists in their field. The institute goes beyond an individual prescription to a multi faceted approach to exercise training for ANY level of ability.

A couple of great results across the weekend for riders from the 's Junior Cycling Academy, delivered by the team at .

At the 40km TT Championships, Campbell averaged 46km/h to place 3rd in the Open category, breaking the Junior record by eight minutes.

At the U17 Scratch Race during the Perth :
1st – Campbell
3rd – Joseph
4th – Niam

Coach Paul has been coaching Gordon McDonell since October 2024 after he came across from a powerlifting background with serious top end power, peaking close to 1700 watts on a Shimano power meter.

Our training focus was clear from the start. Build the aerobic engine to match the sprint.

Gordon came in for a ramp test this week to assess his VO2max power and maximum aerobic capacity. Despite crashes, illness and even multiple broken frames over the past 18 months, his absolute MAP has increased by 24 percent and his MAP relative to bodyweight by 31 percent.

GRAN FONDO NATIONALS

A massive congratulations to all our Exercise Institute crew who completed the Road Nationals Gran Fondo a couple of weeks back.

We’ve had some great feedback from members of our group and wanted to share a few of their experiences from an incredible day out on the bike.

MASSIVE shout-out to Vicki.

Vicki is a Supporters Group member who trains with Exercise Institute and . Over the weekend she won the Aqua-Bike at the Australia Day Tri outright, and finishED second overall across all competitors.

After flying in from Tassie the night before and lining up at 5:30am, Vicki took on the Point Walter course with two climbs each lap, moving through the field on the descents and working well on the climbs.

A huge result and a big step forward in her post-surgery training 👏

Bike Fitting at EI.

A recent bike fit with Scott highlighted just how adaptable the process can be.

Paul has worked with Scott previously across multiple bikes (2 road, 1 MTB, 1 fat bike) and has coached him in the past. Following a lower right limb amputation last year, Scott has returned to riding with two purpose-built prosthetics — one for road and one for MTB.

During the session, Scott’s prosthetist joined us to help refine the interface between rider, prosthetic, and bike — ensuring the setup supported both comfort and efficiency.

A collaborative fit that reinforced the value of integrating bike fitting, coaching, and allied health to meet the individual demands of each rider.

Scott will be back in the coming weeks with his MTBs and to recommence his coaching journey with EI.
