Weโ€™ve got a National Champion.

Jenny Sammons has been building through our Wednesday track sessions with the Masters 9 national pursuit record in mind. Last week, she delivered. Record broken by one second!

โ€œThe full pursuits I did on Wednesday sessions with you, working to lap times, was what I went back to. I finished strong and clipped the record by a second. Splits were pretty amazing, just dropping by 0.2 after I passed the other rider with two laps to goโ€ฆ stoked, and canโ€™t wait to get back to Wednesday nights in May.โ€

Our Wednesday track sessions are open to all, delivered by Coach Paul Merkes in conction with Midland Cycle Club, giving riders access to structured, race-relevant work in a real track environment.

With five mountainous stages, this is a big step up, especially considering he only signed his first pro contract with a few months ago.

With four stages now in the bag, Donovan has already ridden the break for a day, experienced some real hardships, and taken a top 20 result.

A solid introduction to this level, with plenty more to come.

Nate George came on board with EI just before Christmas with a clear goal: build toward the 2026 off-road season.

Since then we've built a process centered around testing, gym work, structured coaching with Paul Merkes, and flexibility around a FIFO schedule.

12-hour work days and Nate is still getting the thing done.

We re-tested this week ahead of Karri Cup and Seven and saw a +17.5% improvement in MAP in under 3 months.

At the 40km TT Championships, Campbell averaged 46km/h to place 3rd in the Open category, breaking the Junior record by eight minutes.

Coach Paul has been coaching Gordon McDonell since October 2024 after he came across from a powerlifting background with serious top end power, peaking close to 1700 watts on a Shimano power meter.

Our training focus was clear from the start. Build the aerobic engine to match the sprint.

Gordon came in for a ramp test this week to assess his VO2max power and maximum aerobic capacity. Despite crashes, illness and even multiple broken frames over the past 18 months, his absolute MAP has increased by 24 percent and his MAP relative to bodyweight by 31 percent.
