The Student Massage Clinic run by the Australian Institute of Fitness has been developed to provide cost effective massages, at the same time providing clinical practice for our students before they graduate. There are two types of massages available: 1. Relaxation (55 minutes) - $25 A relaxation massage helps to de-stress and loosen up your body. The treatment consists of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle manipulations of the muscles performed at your chosen pressure. It is a pain free way to relax both your muscles and your mind. 2. Remedial (85 minutes) - $40 A remedial treatment treats aches, pains and injuries and a Therapist will assess where you need treatment and what may be causing your pain. They’ll PERFORM TESTS and a POSTURAL ANALYSIS to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and other types of techniques to treat your pain. Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more can be eased with a remedial treatment. Please note, your Therapist may require you to remove any loose or restrictive clothing in order to assess posture and dysfunction. We recommend you wear sports shorts and a sports bra (for females) or similar. Your first remedial session will involve extensive muscular TESTING as per the remedial massage program's learning criteria. All follow up appointments (if with the same Therapist) will involve far less testing once a suitable long term treatment plan has been outlined by the student.
