🤩 MEET BEAR 🤩

Bear is a Boerboel, a South African Mastiff who weighs in at an impressive 82 kg of hugs and kisses 💋

Bear recently visited us for his 6 monthly health check. Biannual check ups are especially important for pets on long-term medications as they allow our vets to monitor organ function, adjust dosages if needed to prevent toxicity, and keep an eye on age related conditions such as arthritis or kidney disease.

Regular check-ups are particularly important for our senior patients, as they can develop subtle or hidden health issues that progress quickly if left unnoticed.

The Boerboel breed was historically developed in South Africa for their incredible strength and resilience. They were bred to protect farms and homesteads, even standing guard against large predators such as lions and hyenas 🦁

👏REQUEST FOR DONATIONS👏

Midland Meals is seeking donations of blankets and sleeping bags ahead of the cooler weather 🥶

If you have any blankets or sleeping bags in good, clean condition that you no longer need, we would greatly appreciate your support.

Please consider dropping them off with us so Dr Rachel can pass them on to those in need. Your generosity can make a real difference this winter 💕

✨ Meet Argos! ✨

This handsome 10-month-old Irish Setter visited us for X-rays to assess some lameness in his left foreleg. From admission, to his procedure, and all the way through recovery, Argos was the definition of a polite young gentleman. 💛

He absolutely won over our nursing team and made sure to return the love with the sweetest hug for Nurse Lexie! 🥹🐾

Irish Setters are known for their stunning, glossy mahogany coats, boundless energy, and their famously friendly (and slightly clownish!) personalities. Originally bred as hunting dogs to locate upland birds, they are athletic, intelligent, and incredibly affectionate, which makes them wonderful family companions.

We’re lucky to see quite a few of these beautiful redheads here at Kalamunda Vet Hospital, and Argos was no exception! ❤️
