Melanie Jansen is an experienced Psychologist, registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) and an Associate Member with the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Melanie has completed specialist training in Child Centred Play Therapy and is passionate about working with children and their caregivers in this deeply respectful modality. Melanie is also experienced in working with children in other modalities, providing counselling services to adolescents, and assisting caregivers to understand and meet their child’s unique needs. She is available to work with children from 4 years of age, adolescents, and their caregivers in response to a wide range of difficulties including adjustment to stressful life events, social difficulties, depression, anxiety, low self confidence, family conflict, past trauma, and grief. What is Child Centred Play Therapy? Child Centred Play Therapy is a therapeutic modality in which the child leads the way, using play as their language. The therapist focuses on the child (as opposed to the child’s problems) and develops a relationship with the child based on genuine acceptance, safety and trust, and a deep respect for the child’s innate ability to work through their difficulties, heal, and grow if given the opportunity to do so.
