Reflection on International Women's Day - Balance the Scales

Taking a moment to pause and reflect on what has been a significant month for REHS and our team.

During International Women’s Day, we took the opportunity to recognise not only how far we have come, but also the important work that continues to create a more balanced and inclusive future for all.

This year’s theme, Balance the Scales, speaks to both progress and purpose — acknowledging the achievements of women across our industry while reinforcing our shared responsibility to continue driving meaningful change.

We were proud to join the incredible team of PWR as Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC) representatives for the Happiness Co’s International Women’s Day Luncheon on 13th March. The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect, reflect, and celebrate the impact of women across our sector.

For the REHS team, the celebrations continued at the CME WIRA Finalists Awards Dinner, where we were especially proud to see our very own Sue Steele recognised as the 2026 Outstanding Contribution or Achievement Award winner. Sue’s exceptional work in Medical and Emergency Response training, both in Australia and internationally, is a testament to her dedication, leadership, and lasting impact on the industry.

This morning, we had the privilege of sharing breakfast at the offices of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, celebrating and acknowledging the many inspiring leaders across the mining and resources sector who have been nominated and recognised as finalists in the 2026 Women in Resources Awards (WIRA).

It’s one thing to read the stories and biographies of the finalists online — it’s another to sit together, share a meal, and hear first-hand the journeys, challenges and moments that have shaped each of these remarkable individuals. It was a genuinely humbling experience to be in a room filled with such passion, leadership and commitment to industry.

Red Earth Health Solutions would like to extend our congratulations to every nominee and finalist. Your dedication and impact across the resources sector is truly worthy of recognition.

As we roll into the festive season and start decking the halls, we wanted to give you a quick heads-up on our Christmas and New Year operating hours.

Red Earth Health Solutions will be running with skeleton staffing from 22 December 2025 through to 5 January 2026. We won’t all be completely off building sandcastles or perfecting our beach cricket skills 🏖️—we’ll still be on hand to support you, just at a lighter capacity so our team can enjoy a well-earned festive recharge.

Celebrating 15 Years of Red Earth Health Solutions & MERC!

What an incredible milestone! This year we proudly celebrated 15 years of Red Earth Health Solutions alongside another unforgettable MERC - Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC) — held from 27–30 November, where 16 talented teams put their skills to the test across Emergency Response scenarios including HAZMAT, Road Crash Rescue, Vertical Rescue, First Aid, and more.

A huge shout-out to our founding partners and generous sponsors whose continued commitment has shaped MERC into the event it is today. And of course, none of this would be possible without the dedication of the many volunteers who give their time, energy, and heart to support the competition each year. You are the backbone of the event.

We also want to give a massive shout-out to the amazing Red Earth Health Solutions team — thank you for going above and beyond, year after year, to support both and and ensure everything runs smoothly. Your passion and commitment truly make all the difference.

We’re incredibly proud to have our charitable partners — Blue Tree Project and Happiness Co — join us again. Thanks to the amazing MERC community, together we raised $150,000 this year alone, taking the total to over $1 million raised across 15 years. An extraordinary achievement that reflects the heart and generosity of this community.

To all 16 teams who competed this year: thank you for your professionalism, passion, and camaraderie. The 2025 competition was full of great energy, genuine connection, and good-natured rivalry — everything MERC stands for. Congratulations to the overall winners Regis Resources Ltd for an outstanding presentation of their skills throughout the event.
