Twenty Brightwater volunteers recently took part in our Palliative Care Training Day, led by Dr Kevin Yuen and Palliative and End-of-Life Consultant Ed Gaudoin.

The session explored key topics including communication, boundaries, grief and self-care, with volunteers describing it as both informative and validating.

We’re grateful for the support our volunteers provide alongside our teams, and we’re proud to now offer this training annually 💙

Under the sharks at AQWA 🦈

Young Onset Dementia clients from our Kingsley Supported Independent Living house enjoyed a day out at AQWA, made possible through Life’s Possibilities.

The day wrapped up with a pub lunch and plenty of stories about the sharks.

Not a bad day out at all!

The music started, the dancers took the stage, and suddenly it felt a little like home again 🐎

Kwok and Columbur recently attended a Lunar New Year celebration in Perth thanks to Life’s Possibilities, surrounded by vibrant dancing, drumming and a room full of community.

Columbur enjoyed the performances alongside his wife, while Kwok, a former Dim Sum chef, was especially pleased to see some familiar dishes from his culture on the buffet.

A beautiful way to welcome the Year of the Horse!

Back in the '60s, Maureen made history as the first woman to lead Johannesburg’s largest hospital – breaking barriers for women in medicine and paving the way for others to follow.

Now part of our Brightwater community, Maureen’s journey reminds us what it means to be bold, brave and trailblazing.

Here’s to Maureen, and to all the women in our lives who inspire us every day ✨

Dr. Maureen made headlines for being the first woman at the helm of Johannesburg's largest hospital – a feat unheard of in the sixties.***Across Brightwater'...

We're hooked on summer 🎣☀️

Birralee residents enjoyed a Fishability outing on the water, made possible by Life’s Possibilities.

And of course, no fishing trip is complete without a bit of friendly competition over who caught the biggest one 😉

A birthday with a taste of home 🎈

Edmond celebrated his birthday in Feb surrounded by his wife Charlene, family and housemates, with staff going above and beyond to make the day truly special.

Charlene cooked one of his favourites, Molokhia and rice, a traditional Egyptian dish that always brings comfort. Safe to say, Edmond didn’t waste any time tucking in!

Hearing Arabic fill the room was one of the loveliest parts of the day, as family chatted and staff even shared a few Arabic words that created a quiet sense of connection.

Happy belated birthday, Edmond!

Brightwater Central was feeling the Lunar New Year spirit 🧧✨

We were delighted to welcome the Chung Wah Association for a beautiful cultural dance performance, made possible through Life’s Possibilities.

The music filled the room, the dancers moved with such grace, and before long a few residents were clapping and even singing along.

A joyful way to celebrate the season, share culture and spend time together.

I spy with my little eye… 🐒👀

Clients from our Aylesford Supported Independent Living house enjoyed a day out at Perth Zoo for a bit of bonding!

Agnes was first to point out every animal she saw, Jaydon shared a lovely moment with a curious young visitor, and Brett took it all in with a coffee, chips and his favourites (monkeys and snakes).

One of those days they'll be smiling about for a long time.
